ISB Mohali Admission Process

Indian School of Business offers a diverse portfolio of 8 programmes, including flagship courses like PGPM, PGP MFAB, and PGPMAX, along with five specialised Advanced Management Programmes. These programmes are designed for different career stages, ranging from early-career professionals to senior executives seeking industry-focused leadership skills. The candidates can check the eligibility or selection criteria for ISB Mohali Admission.

PGP (Post Graduate Programme in Management)

The PGP is ISB’s flagship one-year MBA equivalent. Campus allocation to Hyderabad or Mohali is decided by ISB post-admission, not by the applicant. Candidates apply to ISB as a single institution.

  • Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
  • Entrance: Valid GMAT, GMAT Focus, or GRE score (no minimum cut-off published officially)
  • Work experience: Required; the typical admitted profile carries 4 to 5 years of experience
  • Process: Online application, essays, recommendation letters, then application review followed by interview for shortlisted candidates
  • GMAT benchmark: Admitted class median typically falls in the 710 to 730 range

CAT is not accepted for the flagship PGP. Applicants with a test score older than five years must retake. ISB evaluates academic record, professional trajectory, essays, recommendations, and interview performance holistically rather than running a cutoff-based screen.

PGPMAX (PGP for Senior Executives)

PGPMAX explicitly targets senior corporate professionals, business owners, and seasoned executives looking to transition into global leadership roles. The 15-month modular program alternates class weeks to accommodate working candidates.

  • Work Experience: A strict minimum of 10 years of full-time post-graduation work experience is mandatory.
  • Entrance Exam: No standardized test score is required by default. Admission is determined purely by evaluating executive stature, organizational impact, leadership history, corporate recommendations, and a formal selection interview.

PGP MFAB (PGP in Family Managed Business)

The PGP MFAB is an intensive 15-month modular course designed specifically for young successors, leaders, and next-generation members of family-managed enterprises.

  • Eligibility: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; candidates must possess a verified family business background with a clear succession framework. Prior independent work experience is appreciated but not mandatory.
  • Entrance Exam: Strictly requires the proprietary ISB Business Admissions Test (BAT). GMAT or GRE scores are not accepted as a substitute for this internal analytical assessment.

Advanced Management Programs

The five AMPs at ISB Mohali do not require a standardised test score. Each targets working professionals seeking domain-specific executive education in Public Policy, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Business Analytics, or Operations Management. Admission is based on work profile and relevance to the programme domain.

ISB Mohali Placements

According to Reddit usersISB Mohali as a high-cost but high-reward MBA option. Many highlight the strong placement process and brand value, especially for consulting and tech roles. However, some discussions mention high fees (INR 40L+) and competitive placements, where outcomes depend heavily on individual profiles. Overall, the sentiment is positive but realistic about ROI and pressure. Read more

ISB Mohali Campus and Infrastructure

The ISB Mohali campus covers 70 acres in Sector 81, SAS Nagar, approximately 10 km from Chandigarh city centre. The campus was designed by Perkins Eastman Architects and built to LEED Gold sustainability standards, making it one of the few business school campuses in India with that certification.

The campus accommodates up to 1,200 residential students across 68 studio apartments, 174 quad-sharing units, and 16 housing units. All student residences are air-conditioned and fully furnished, with Wi-Fi, campus LAN, voice, and data ports. The library at ISB Mohali holds over 10,000 books and provides access to a range of online databases and research journals. Academic infrastructure includes lecture halls, a 500-seat auditorium, high-definition video conferencing, cafes, and sports and recreation facilities.

ISB Mohali uniquely houses four specialised research and education institutes not present at the Hyderabad campus:

  • Bharti Institute of Public Policy — anchoring the AMP in Public Policy
  • Max Institute of Healthcare Management — anchoring the AMP in Healthcare
  • Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing — supporting the Operations Management programme
  • Punj Lloyd Institute for Physical Infrastructure Management — anchoring the AMP in Infrastructure

These four institutes form the intellectual backbone of the AMPs offered exclusively at the Mohali campus and host faculty, policy practitioners, and executives for modular residential programmes. The smaller cohort of approximately 277 PGP students at Mohali (versus 604 at Hyderabad) creates a more intimate learning environment, while both campuses share identical faculty rotation, curriculum, and degree.

ISB Mohali FAQs

Ques. Is ISB Mohali the same as ISB Hyderabad?

Ans. ISB operates as one institution across two campuses. The curriculum, faculty, degree, placement process, and fees are identical at both campuses. ISB allocates admitted students to Hyderabad or Mohali post-admission based on programme requirements and campus capacity. A degree from ISB Mohali carries the same institutional rank and recognition as a degree from ISB Hyderabad.

Ques. What is the total fee for PGP at ISB Mohali?

Ans. The total fee for the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) at ISB Mohali is INR 45.12 Lakhs for the one-year programme. This is the same as the ISB Hyderabad fee. The fee covers tuition and on-campus residential accommodation.

Ques. Does ISB Mohali accept CAT scores?

Ans. CAT scores are not accepted for the flagship PGP at ISB Mohali. The PGP requires a valid GMAT, GMAT Focus, or GRE score. CAT is accepted only for the PGPM for Young Leaders (PGP-YL), which is available at the Hyderabad campus and not at Mohali.

Ques. What is the GMAT cutoff for ISB Mohali PGP?

Ans. ISB does not publish an official GMAT cutoff. The admitted class median typically falls in the 710 to 730 range on the GMAT. ISB evaluates candidates holistically, including academic record, work experience, essays, recommendations, and interview performance. A strong GMAT score improves chances of both admission and scholarship consideration.

Ques. Do ISB Mohali students get the same placement outcomes as ISB Hyderabad students?

Ans. Yes. ISB runs a single integrated placement process for both campuses. Recruiters participate in one unified pool and there is no campus-wise breakdown in official placement reports. Mohali students access the same recruiter base, the same offer pool, and are captured under the same published average CTC. For the Class of 2026, the combined average CTC was INR 37.29 LPA and the highest offer was INR 1.56 crore per annum.

Ques. Is ISB Mohali ranked by NIRF?

Ans. No. ISB, including its Mohali campus, does not participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Participation is voluntary for private institutions, and ISB has opted not to submit data to the framework. ISB is ranked by the Financial Times, QS, IIRF, and Collegedunia instead. The FT Global MBA 2026 ranked ISB 12th globally.

Ques. What programmes are available only at ISB Mohali and not at ISB Hyderabad?

Ans. ISB Mohali houses four specialised institutes not present at Hyderabad: the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, the Max Institute of Healthcare Management, the Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing, and the Punj Lloyd Institute for Physical Infrastructure Management. The Advanced Management Programs in Public Policy, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Operations Management, and Business Analytics are anchored at the Mohali campus because of these institutes.

Ques. Does ISB Mohali offer scholarships?

Ans. Yes. ISB offers merit-based, need-cum-merit, and diversity scholarships covering 25% to 100% of tuition fees. Approximately 40% of PGP students receive some form of financial assistance. Notable awards include the Bajaj Auto Scholarship, Taparia Family Scholarship, J.C. Flowers ARC Scholarship, and the Vidula Jalan Scholarship, which covers full tuition, fees, and accommodation for two recipients annually.

Ques. What is the campus size of ISB Mohali?

Ans. The ISB Mohali campus spans 70 acres in Sector 81, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab. The campus was designed to LEED Gold sustainability standards and can accommodate up to 1,200 residential students. It includes lecture halls, a 500-seat auditorium, student residences, a library with over 10,000 books, sports facilities, and dining venues.

Ques. What work experience is required for ISB Mohali PGP admission?

Ans. ISB does not mandate a minimum number of years of work experience for the PGP. However, the programme is designed for working professionals and the typical admitted cohort carries 4 to 5 years of experience. Candidates without work experience are unlikely to be competitive given the programme’s career-transformation positioning and the nature of the cohort composition.

ISB Mohali: 8 Answered Questions

Which one should be chosen: Great Lakes Chennai PGP or ISB Mohali PGP?

Sapna Malik
Prayan ThampiLives in Chennai

I will begin by clarifying that ISB is a single Institute with two campuses and not separate institutes. Anyone who has options for ISB and Great Lakes should go for ISB without any second thoughts.

ISB is better than Great Lakes in almost every aspect be it academics, reputation, faculty, research opportunities, and placement. If you don’t believe me, contact the alumni of both and you will realize the difference.

At ISB, do you get to select the campus between Hyderabad and Mohali?

Yash AroraMBA in Business, Indian School of Business (Graduated 2018)

When applying to ISB, you will not have the option to choose between the campuses in Hyderabad or Mohali. Instead, you will have the opportunity to indicate your campus preference during the application process, but it should be noted that ISB may or may not take this into consideration. This is done in order to maintain equality between the two campuses so that neither campus students feel like they are at a disadvantage.

While in rare cases, ISB may take your specific location preference into consideration, it is highly unlikely. It should be noted that even in cases where requests for campus change have been made for reasons such as family or health, ISB has denied such requests. This is a reflection of the diverse student body that ISB attracts.

What are my chances of getting into ISB Hyderabad or Mohali?

Ankur WarikooMBA Marketing, Indian School of Business (2018)

Firstly it's not up to you to choose Hyderabad or Mohali. You can just apply to ISB and the campus is allotted on the basis of a strange algorithm.

Now coming back to the question of your chances of getting into ISB, it seems I know nothing about your profile. I will state some general points regarding ISB Hyderabad admissions

  • The first and foremost requirement is entrance exams like GMAT and GRE. The average is around 710 for GMAT and 325 for GRE.
  • You need a minimum of 2 years of work experience
  • You require and Letter of Recommendation and introspective essays
  • You need to feel a comprehensive application form that attracts the judges

More than work experience, the quality of your work and achievements matter more. While writing the essays mention the unique qualities and roles you have fulfilled in life.

How ISB Hyderabad is different from ISB Mohali?

Varun SharmaPGP, Class of 2016 - Indian School of Business

My brother has had an experience with both campuses and claims that both colleges are unique in their own aspects. Some major differences between the two campuses are

  • The Mohali campus has better infrastructure owing to its recent construction. It’s decked with modern world-class facilities and is more advanced in comparison to the Hyderabad campus.
  • The Mohali campus is located in North and has better food varieties
  • The batch size is small at the Mohali campus thereby reducing the competition tremendously.
  • Sometimes the faculty for the same courses is different across the two campuses owing to their availability and other external factors.
  • The Mohali campus has a more relaxed atmosphere than the Hyderabad campus as it is near Chandigarh. Hyderabad campus is always bustling due to the presence of a larger workforce, and colleges.

Rather than choosing the campus, make the best out of whatever is available to you.

What is the current procedure for selection in ISB (Hyderabad or Mohali) in EEO (early entry option)?

Ankita Rakshit
Rakshit RanjanPGP from Indian School of Business (2021)

ISB Hyderabad's selection criteria lay great emphasis on Work Experience. The candidates are preferred and differentiated based on this aspect a lot here. To overcome this problem, ISB Hyderabad has come up with an Early Entry Option wherein candidates with little or no work experience can freely be evaluated on the basis of their academic performance, leadership potential, and personality attributes. Some highlights of the selection process of an Early Entry candidate are

  • The early entry applicants will have to in turn showcase their skills and capability by putting forward their goals, their prior achievements, and experiences, and why they are pursuing an MBA. An early-entry applicant has no work experience so his reason for MBA should be backed by strong goals.
  • Because your academic performance will be the major criterion of evaluating your profile, each and every aspect of the same will be checked thoroughly. Any flaws can pose a problem to your admission.
  • For an Early Entry applicant, his interview round is the most crucial as his personal attributes need to be evaluated which can be done through the interview only.

The best thing an Early Entry applicant can do to increase his/her chances of admission is to get involved in extracurricular activities or get additional certificates and prepare best for the interview

How was the experience at ISB Mohali in general? Did you ever feel like you should have been in Hyderabad instead?

Mayank Badhwar
Adarsh KumarMBA from Indian School of Business (2020)

My cousin belonged to the Mohali campus of ISB and during her exchange term, she observed and compared the pros and cons of both campuses. I have listed the major pros of both colleges.

ISB Hyderabad

  • Huge batch size ensures peers from a variety of backgrounds.
  • The location is helpful for the students to maintain a good social life
  • ISB Hyderabad has a wider range of student-driven clubs and committed
  • The placement presentations take place at the Hyderabad campus and Mohali students get to join through a video call only

ISB Mohali

  • ISB Mohali has very few resident faculty as it has been recently established. As a result, the institute calls in the best faculty from colleges like Wharton, UNC, and Kellogg to teach. Their pedagogy is unique and ISB Hyderabad lacks in this aspect.
  • The campus is new so the accommodation facilities are better and made to suit all the necessary requirements. These hostels have better furnishing, space, and housekeeping facilities in comparison to the hostels of ISB Hyderabad.
  • The small batch size ensures the quality over quantity belief
  • The choice of electives is done through online bidding at ISB. Hyderabad campus with its huge batch size makes it impossible for all the students to get their choice of electives. Mohali students, in turn, face no such problem because of the small batch size

ISB maintains a strict balance between both campuses and the placement statistics are a testament to that as no major differences can be observed.

Overall my cousin never regretted choosing Mohali over Hyderabad and recommends the same to everyone.

How is ISB Mohali campus compared to the Hyderabad one in terms of student quality, placements and education?

Anam Shams
Senjuti Guhastudied at Indian School of Business (2018)

It’s hard to draw a differentiating line between the two campuses.

Peer Group:

The admission committee selects the incoming class and distributes it across the two campuses. So, you will get a similar peer group at both campuses.

Placements:

ISB Hyderabad and ISB Mohali conduct placements as a single school. Fore placements, students of one campus fly down to another. Students also don’t mention their campus on their CV. ISB Mohali placements 2022 had an average CTC of INR 34.07 LPA.

Education:

The quality of education and pedagogy are the same for both campuses. The faculties shuffle between the campuses and there are guest faculties from reputed B-Schools like MIT, Kellogg, LBS, etc.

At ISB Mohali, you will get almost the same academic experience as ISB Hyderabad.

What are the differences between ISB Hyderabad & ISB Mohali in terms of placements, experiences, campuses, accommodation, etc.?

Debdeep Majumder
Priya MehtaBA Marketing, Indian School of Business (2018)

ISB Hyderabad and ISB Mohali are two different campuses of the same school. ISB Hyderabad is one of the top private business schools in India and it is the main campus. The other campus is in Mohali. The college was ranked 10 in 2020 by the composite rank for MBA. Even though they are two different schools, they have the same unified admission process.

There is a very minute difference between both schools. ISB Mohali has small batches; the teachers of ISB Mohali are from US B schools while in ISB Hyderabad there are in-house teachers. ISB Hyderabad is more renowned as compared to the Mohali campus.

Placements:

In terms of placements, both the colleges have the same placements, same admission processes, and same courses.

  • There was a remarkable amount of growth of recruiters as compared to the previous year.
  • In the year 2020, there were a total of 231 companies visiting the campus. There was a 16% of the incensement of the offers.
  • The top companies that visited the campus were Abhibus Services (India) Pvt Ltd, ABP News Network Pvt Ltd, Accelya, Accenture Solutions Pvt Ltd, ACE Engineering Academy and Adani Group.
  • The average salary which was recorded was Rs 23.4 LPA.

Infrastructure:

In terms of infrastructure, ISB Mohali has a comparatively new campus but in comparison to ISB Hyderabad, the new campus is smaller and has fewer facilities than the one in Hyderabad.

Therefore, the above mentioned are the differences between the two schools.

IS THERE ANY OPTION TO GET MBA ADMISSION WITHOUT WORK EXPERIENCE AND WITHOUT ANY (CAT,MAT,GMAT) SCORE?
S
Sweta Kumari
Feb 26, 2026 20:11

At Indian School of Business (ISB Mohali), for the flagship MBA/PGP, you cannot get direct admission without work experience and without a valid test score; a GMAT or GRE score, and a minimum of about 2 years’ full-time experience are required. There are executive programs like PGP Pro or PGPMAX that may not need those tests and need more experience, but a regular MBA entry without any entrance score and no work experience is not offered.
