Remarks

My experience with the VIIT was pretty good. I am feeling nostalgic even writing about my experiences. The college gave me friends for life, memories to live with and a career to keep moving forward in life. The infrastructure was top-notch and I shared a profound bond with some of my faculty members. I am connected to them, till date.

Admission

My admission was done on the basis of my entrance exam score in MAH-CET and my academic performance. My entrance percentile was 88 %ile, that's why I got admission pretty easily in the MBA program. I attended common counseling for seat allocation. Students have to register for counseling and for the college.

Our course structure is prescribed by the SPPU university and it was good. It was informative and customized as per the need of rapidly growing and robust Indian market place. Class notes are sufficient enough to get through the exam, otherwise, we also procured notes from our seniors.

Ques. Which one is better for CE IIIT: Pune or VIIT?

Ans. IIIT Pune is a better option for computer engineering as it only offers two specialized courses, i.e. computer science engineering and electronics and communication engineering. NIRF has ranked VIIT Pune at 155 for BTech. Whereas, IIIT Pune is ranked 83 for engineering by the 2019 JEE cutoff. Faculty: There are more than 12 highly qualified faculty members for the CSE department of IIIT Pune. There are also many visiting faculties for the department. VIIT, Pune has more than 25 faculties for the CSE department and most of them have 10 years of experience in teaching as well as the research field. Course curriculum: The course curriculum for CSE is similar in both of these institutes which include the comprehensive study of data structures, programming languages, algorithms, computer networking, applied mathematics, AI, ML, cloud computing, etc. The last semester is only based on a project or long term internship ( 1-2 months). Admission process: The students who wish to take admission in IIIT Pune need to have 75% marks in 10+2 science (PCM) from any recognized university or college whereas VIIT Pune requires 60-65% academic marks in 10+2. VIIT, Pune takes admission through JEE Mains or MHT-CET. In 2019 the closing cutoff for CSE was 2648 (JEE Mains). Whereas, IIIT, Pune takes admission through JEE Mains. The closing cutoff was 23600 for CSE in 2019. No.of seats at IIIT Pune is 108 whereas at VIIT Pune it is 240. Course fee: The course fee for computer engineering at IIIT Pune is 2.35 lakhs per year and 1.5 lakhs at VIIT Pune. Placement: The placement record of IIIT Pune is definitely better than VIIT. IIIT, Pune- About 80-90% of the students are placed every year through the placement process. Previous year 94 companies came for recruitment and offered an average salary package of 7.58 LPA. Top hiring companies at IIIT Pune are Amazon, L&T, Microsoft, BOSCH, Accenture, Virtusa, Xoriant, etc. VIIT, Pune- The average salary package for CS students was about 5.54 LPA in 2019 placements. The top recruiters at VIIT Pune are IBM, Microsoft, ONIDA, DELL, Siemens, Oracle, Cummins, etc. The training and placement cell of IIIT and VIIT Pune helps students to prepare before placement by conducting pre-placement training, aptitude training, soft skills training mock group discussion sessions, and mock personal interview session.Read more

Ques. Which is better, YCCE, Nagpur or VIIT, Pune?

Ans. These two colleges are the most reputed and preferable engineering colleges in their location. The placement record of VIIT Pune is a little better than YCCE, Nagpur, and especially for Computer Engineering and Electronics and the Telecommunication Engineering department. VIIT and YCCE are accredited by the NBA. Infrastructure: VIIT Pune has better infrastructure as compared to YCCE Nagpur. There are digital classrooms and well-equipped laboratories with high-speed Wi-Fi connection and large playgrounds for outdoor games and a library which has 1000+ books and more than 100 journals. Academics: VIIT Pune has a more research-oriented course structure. They have a research journal called Viswakarma journal of engineering and research (VJER). Training and placement cells of both colleges are quite active and help students to get internships and placement in reputed companies and research institutes. Courses offered: YCCE Nagpur and VIIT Pune are offering graduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. in various engineering branches. Admission process: The admission process for various courses at VIIT and YCCE includes Entrance examinations and Personal interviews. The entrance exam scores accepted by the institutes are as follows. B.Tech- JEE-MAIN and MHT-CET with valid score M.Tech- GATE score or JEST score The total BTech course fee at VIIT Pune is 5.54 LPA whereas at YCCE it is 3.35 lakhs. Last year a total of 1080 students have admitted to all branches of the engineering department at VIIT Pune and 1020 students took admission at YCCE Nagpur. Placement: VIIT, Pune- At VIIT Pune, there are more than 50 companies who are coming to hire deserving candidates through the placement process. The average CTC offered is 6 lakhs while the highest salary goes up to 26-30 LPA. Ans. It is difficult to compare two different institutes and two different courses. You should choose the course you are interested in and the college according to that. Faculty: The Electronics and Telecommunications engineering department at VIIT Pune has approximately 25 professors and almost 16 faculties have Ph.Ds with 12 years of experience. Whereas, the IT department of PVGCOET has 11 highly qualified faculty members. Laboratories: VIIT has awesome Electronics and Telecommunications labs such as 3 computer labs, 4 hardware labs, one virtual lab, and 7 sponsored laboratories with LAN and WiFi internet connection. In PVGCOET, there are 5 IT laboratories as per the requirement of SPPU and AICTE. Alumni: The alumni strength of VIIT Pune is stronger than PVGCOET. More than 1000 alumni of VIIT are working with reputed and multinational companies across the country as well as foreign. Admission process: The admission processes at VIIT for E & TC and IT at PVGCOET are similar. The admission process for B.Tech students is entrance based. PVGCOET accepts MHT-CET scores for admission, whereas, VIIT accepts both JEE Mains and MHT-CET scores for admission. The total seats for B.Tech for E & TC at VIIT Pune are about 180 whereas, at PVGCOET total intake for B.Tech IT is 60. The course fee for B.Tech E & TC at VIIT Pune and for Information technology at PVGCOET is 1.64 lakhs and 1.12 lakhs respectively. Placements: VIIT, Pune- An average salary of 5.44 lakhs per annum is received by the students of VIIT Pune. The top recruiters for VIIT Pune ( E & TC) are Accenture, Cognizant, Ambuja cement, Deloitte, Hindustan Unilever, IBM, GODREJ, etc. PVGCOET- The average CTC received by the IT department at PVGCOET is approximately 5-6 LPA. Ans. VIIT, Pune offers a BTech, while Singhgad offers a BE program for CSE. VIIT, Pune is ranked 155 for BTech by NIRF. Whereas, Singhgad is ranked 138 for BTech by TOI 2020. Faculty: VIIT, Pune has more than 25 faculties for the CSE department and most of them have 10 years of experience in teaching as well as the research field. On the other hand, the department of CSE/IT Singhgad (Pune, Wadgaon) have more than 10 well-qualified teaching staff. Infrastructure: The Infrastructure of the CSE department of VIIT is really very good as compared to Singhgad. CSE department of VIIT has established industry-sponsored laboratories such as GSE-RER, ICC (Infosys campus connect), and CISCO networking academy by CISCO. Admission process: VIIT Pune and Singhgad follow the same admission process. Entrance examination Personal interview These two engineering colleges also require the common eligibility criteria for the students to take admission. Eligibility- The students should have 60-65% marks in both 10th and +2 science with PCM for the general category and there is 5% relaxation in marks for reserved candidates. Entrance score- The candidates who want to take B.Tech admission in VIIT and Singhad need to have a valid JEE- Main score and MHT-CET score. In 2019 the JEE Main closing cutoff for CSE at the institutes was 2648 (VIIT), Singhgad (5104). The annual course fee for CSE at VIIT is 1.5 lakh and at Sinhgad it is 1.24 lakhs for the same. Ans. IIIT Nagpur is way better than VIIT Pune on the basis of overall performance including faculty, placement, and other activities. Both the institutes have collaboration with many reputed research institutes like TIFR, IUUCA, and various Electronics and IT industries from India as well as other countries. Faculty: VIIT Pune has 30 highly qualified faculty members for computer engineering whereas the department of electronics and communication at IIIT Nagpur have proficient faculties along with the several visiting professors from VNIT. Laboratory: The laboratories are well equipped at both of the institutes for computer engineering and electronics and communication engineering. But IIIT Nagpur upgrades their laboratories for electronics and communication from time to time to provide high-end computational and electronics facilities. Admission process: The admission process is based on academic records and entrance examination scores.IIIT Nagpur takes admission through JEE Mains whereas, VIIT Pune accepts both JEE Main score and MHT-CET scores. The JEE Mains closing cutoff for the programs in 2019 is as follows.
