Placement Experience :

The placements are managed by the Career Advisory Services (CAS) team of XIMB. It is an elected student body that is headed by two faculty members. They maintain corporate relations and roll out opportunities for the students. XIMB has a record of 100% final placement.

Remarks :

XIMB is a well-reputed college and ranks 31 according to NIRF rankings. I attended IMS Coaching in Cannaught Place, New Delhi. My faculties and mentors advised me to join this B-school apart from the other options I had. I appeared for XAT examination on 6th January 2019, and applied to XIMB through the same score. I got a call for GD and the interview process on 14th February. The process was held sometime in March and the final admission results were released sometime in May. The session for 19-21 commenced on 17th June.

Placement Experience :

The summer internship process begins in the second month of the first year. The final placement starts in Term 5 of the second year. Companies such as ICICI, HSBC, Aditya Birla Capital, Morgan Stanley Capital Investment, BNY Melon, Nestlé, L'oreal, Deloitte, Accenture, KPMG etc visit the campus.

Remarks :

The college was established in 1987 and has a rich alumni base, with alumni spread across all countries and successful entrepreneurs. The institute has reputed faculty members such as Prof. Banikanta Mishra and Prof. D.V Ramana, who have been associated with the institute since its initial days. It is centrally located in the city of Bhubaneswar, easily accessible. The campus is sprawling and has an old world charm to it. The admission process is based on shortlisting from CAT/XAT Scores followed by GD, WAT and PI.

Remarks :

Ximb is one of the best B-School in India. It provides MBA in business management, rural management. It considers scores of different exams like CAT, XAT, GMAT. I got admission through the CAT exam where I scored 90 percentile. Faculties and mentors are too friendly. The shortlisted candidates undergo GD, PI and WAT.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is good here. The average faculty:student is 1:15. Most of the faculty are highly qualified i.e PHDs & the case based teaching methodology is adapted here. Regarding the exams in subjects; all subjects have end term(ET) exam at the end of the trimester along with bi-weekly or tri-weekly quizzes & some subjects also have MT exam. If you're attentive in the class & revise them timely; you can do well in the exams.

Remarks :

Some good things about the college are the legacy of 33 years, decent brand & alumni base. Some bad things are the extremely high course fees (w.r.t the colleges of the same tier) & the high batch size of 360 due to which there is always a high competition for the few good roles both in summers as well as in finals. I joined here as I didn't have any other better converts. The admission process includes the written tests along with the GD-PI-WAT round. The 2nd rounds happen mostly in the month of Feb.-March. You can check out the PG groups for any update on the groups.

Placement Experience :

XIMB is well known for its placement records. It provides 100 percent placement to its students every year. The highest package (International) was 58 lakh rupees and for domestic, it was 28 lakh rupees. The average package in 2020 was 15.4 lakh rupees. All the big companies come during the placement process. Some well-known companies like Delloite, Infosys, Emami, Godrej, TCS, Tata steel, etc. Each student at least gets 2-3 offers during his/her final placement.

Remarks :

XIMB is one of the prominent b-schools of India. It provides MBA in Business Management as a flagship program. It considers scores of different exams like CAT, XAT, X-Gmt, GMAT. I have belled the CAT exam with 89 percentile. Because I had an Odisha quota reservation I was shortlisted for the next round. XIMB is a vast college with world-class faculty, friendly mentors. In XIMB, the cut-off generally is 90 percentile, then shortlisted students undergo GD, PI, and WAT. Then according to the performance of students, they are called for admission.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is good & the faculty & student ratio is 1:15. The case-based methodology is used here to teach us. All the faculties are highly qualified i.e PHDs & some are even more qualified. Regarding exams, the end term happens for all the subjects at the end of each trimester. Apart from that, bi-weekly or tri-weekly quizzes happen for almost all subjects. Clearing those exams is not much difficult if you've listened carefully in the class & revised them in time. Some faculties are good & some are bad too.

Remarks :

Some good aspects of the college are the legacy & brand value of 33 years & the alumni base which will help me in the future. Some bad aspects of the college are the huge batch size of 360; due to which there is more competition for the good roles in the summer & final placements. Also, the really high course fee of 20.3 lakhs for the 2 years (remember it is only the course fee) w.r.t the colleges of the same tier is a disadvantage for the college. The admission process includes the GD-PI-WAT round after the written exams & the rounds happen in the month of Feb.-Mar.& reason for choosing was that it was my best convert; so I joined it. You can also refer to various pagalguy groups for information.

The course is good & it is the flagship course of the college. The institute is having a faculty-to-student ratio of about 1:15 which is quite good. The case-based methodology is used here which is good as well. Many of the faculties are highly qualified i.e PHDs. Regarding exams, end term exam happens at the end of the course for each of the subjects along with presentations & bi-weekly/tri-weekly quizzes. You can manage these quizzes if you've listened carefully in the class & revise them at regular intervals.

Remarks :

Some good things about the college are the legacy of 33 years & brand value of the college. Some bad things about the college are the high fees (w.r.t the colleges of the same tier) & the huge batch size of 360 which makes the summer & final placement process much competitive. Ques. Which one should be opted, Tapmi PGDM or XIMB HR, in terms of placement?

● Top Answer By Arjit Ajinkya on 19 Jun 21

Ans. There are several incidents about how the B-schools across the country are facing issues when it comes to the placements for HR. However, at the same time, there also are various students from the HR branch who successfully have been placed in many top-tier companies. If you are left with any particular doubt that concerns the placements of the HR department in XIMB, then it is suggested that you opt for TAPMI or PGDM. These institutes have better placement stats.  Even though the placements matter, your passion and what you choose to do also partially is important as well.  However, in terms of overall placements of each institute, here is a brief report, Institute TAPMI XIMB Placement Percentage 100% 100% Average CTC INR 11 LPA INR 15.51 LPA Highest CTC INR 25 LPA INR 24 LPA Top Recruiters Airtel, Infosys, JP Morgan Deloitte, Accenture, Airtel If you think you should go for HR, then you can definitely try and work diligently. Ques. Which college should I prefer between SIBM Pune and XIMB for MBA-BM regular course?

● Top Answer By Neha Pandey on 19 Jun 21

Ans. Having friends studying in both the institutes, I might be able to help you with the question. To conclude which is the best option for you, we have to first compare these two Institutes in the following few criteria. Brand value: Usually XIMB over SIBM is preferred, due to its better reputation and brand value. You have to score around 98% in CAT or XAT if you are aiming to secure a seat at XIMB. Alumni base: SIBM Pune is older than XIMB and has an illustrious alumni base. Even though XIMB has a great alumni strength, it's not as good as SIBM. Location: SIBM is located at the picturesque Lavale village of Pune. Campus is fully enabled with WiFi. Infrastructure is top-notch with modern classrooms and seminar halls. XIMB is located at Bhubaneswar, it is well connected to metropolitan cities. The campus is large compared to SIBM. Placement records: Particulars SIBM Pune XIMB Number of students placed 365 374 Number of recruiters 84 97 Top recruiters ICICI Bank, Capgemini, Asian paints, Godrej. BNY Mellon, Accenture, Deloitte, Airtel. Highest CTC offered 27 LPA 24 LPA Average CTC offered 16 LPA 15.51 LPA Placement rate 98% 98% You have to assess all these factors, consider your personal commitments, course fee and other information about both of these Institutes to decide what is best for you.Read more

Ques. I got only 59.61 percentile in DILR. But in English and maths, I got 97 and 88 respectively, overall 90.71. Will I get calls from IMI Delhi and XIMB?

● Top Answer By Souvick Gupta on 18 Jun 21

Ans. If you have an aggregate percentile of above 90%, you can go with IMI Delhi as the marks are not evaluated subject-wise. However at XIMB, they have mentioned that they will have a sectional cut-off, but how much is not specified. So with such a low score in DILR (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning), you may miss out.  But before you choose any of the institutes, you should ask yourself, if you put enough effort into quants and DILR while preparing? If the answer is no. Then, it will be better to prepare for another year and aim for a better score.  If you put in the hard work now, you can get into much better B-School like IIMs, SPJ, etc. A better school means more academic pressure, but in the end, you will end up with a better CTC and a reputed company. In corporate life, pressure is not available, so why not aim to do it with a better salary.  If you put in 18 hours of work for 6-7 months, your percentile will definitely improve. And if staying motivated is a challenge for you, you can get a mentor who will push you to do better.  So, although IMI and XIMB are pretty good options, it will be better if you try to better your percentile.Read more

Ques. Which college is better for an MBA, XIMB or IMT Ghaziabad? Looking for detailed answers based on latest information.

● Top Answer By Anand Sharma on 18 Jun 21

Ans. Both XIMB and IMT Ghaziabad are very good colleges but XIMB will be a better choice than IMT Ghaziabad. I know some people from both the institute, so I think I can give you some insight about them.  XIMB has a better placement record. It also offers a better ROI. Although both institutes have their own legacy, the alumni network for XIMB is somewhat better. XIMB is also a more reputed tier-1 management institute as compared to IMT. The Xaviers brand name definitely comes with some perks.  In SBI student loans, XIMB comes in the first list while IMT doesn’t. Here are some recent statistics regarding the institutes. Parameters  XIMB  IMT Ghaziabad Average CTC 15 LPA 10-15 LPA Highest CTC 24 LPA 38 LPA Hence, choosing XIMB will be a better choice as it is a very reputed college and the academics and faculty here are very good too. But if you are looking for diversity in your batch then you should choose IMT.Read more

"My college experience"

The colleges I had applied was only the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. I took admission in the same through General Category only, which did not involve any kind of quota. The Program I had applied to was an MBA in Business Administration which is a flagship program of XIMB. The admission criteria were atleast 94 percentile in XAT/CAT for General Category, which was the minimum requirement for undergoing any counselling process. The Counselling process involved two processes: Group Debate and then a personal interview based on an essay that was given on the spot to the candidates by the counselling team. In the group debate round, a common topic was given, for which there was a
