Should you pick PGDM General Management at XLRI?
This course suits working managers who can leave their job for a year and a half and live on campus in Jamshedpur.
Pick it if:
You have three years of managerial work behind you: XLRI counts that work up to 31 Mar 2027, so the months you are still adding still count.
You cannot take a two-year break from work: this course is 18 months, so you are back in the job market sooner than a two-year MBA.
You already hold a GMAT or GRE score: XLRI takes both, so you can apply and interview months before the XAT round opens.
You want the fee back fast: the last batch's average pay is higher than the whole programme fee, as the ROI tile shows.
Skip it if:
You are counting on XAT alone: that window shuts in early December, and a missed form means waiting a full year.
You need to live with your family: every student gets a single room on campus, and staying on campus is part of the course.
You are counting on a summer internship to switch fields: this course has none, and a three month field project takes its place.
You have less than three years of managerial work: XLRI will not shortlist you, however strong your test score is.
Counsellor's advice
If you already hold a GMAT or GRE score and three years of managerial work, apply on that route first: those interviews are held from September, months before the XAT round. If you are short on either, wait a year rather than spend the form fee.

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad costs about nine Lakhs more and finishes in one year, but its average pay is far higher. If you can fund the higher fee and clear its bar, take it; if not, XLRI is the cheaper seat with strong pay.
In short
Indian Institute of Management Bangalore finishes in one year and pays more on average, but it costs about eight Lakhs more and has fewer seats. If your work record is strong enough for its shortlist, apply to both and pick on the offer you get.
In short
Indian Institute of Management Calcutta is a one year course with a higher fee and a smaller batch. If you want the shorter break from work and can pay more, it fits; if the fee is the deciding line, XLRI is the safer pick.
In short
Indian Institute of Management Lucknow costs almost the same as XLRI and finishes six months sooner, but its average pay is a little lower. If you want the shorter course, apply to both and decide when the offers come.
Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.

What would you prefer from IIM-A, B, C, and XLRI Jamshedpur for management courses?
Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
All four are the best, most renowned, highly established business schools in the country. Though to be a part of one of them will be dependent on various factors
Order of choice (highest to lowest)
Peer group: All of them give you a network of the sharpest and brightest minds, so all in the same boat.
Culture: IIM C, XLRI, IIM B & A tie at the same spot (personal opinion completely).
Location: Depends from person to person, so this is a ranking you'll have to do for yourself.
Specialization: Depends on what specialization you're looking for. IIM Ahmedabad gives you the best for Consulting, IIM Calcutta for finance.
Gut feeling: This is again, very personal, depending on what your dream college was when you started out.
Other criteria like packages, internships, fees, etc. won't be a differentiation in these because all of them would give you very similar job profiles, and CTC and have marginally different fees.
Ultimately, the institution that you choose should align with your career goals and aspirations. It's important to research and compare each institution carefully before making a decision.
Should I join an online data science course of XLRI Jamshedpur after a gap of 3 years to enter the technology field?
Devansh JhaXlri jamshedpur
Whether you enroll in an online D.S. course at XLRI Jamshedpur after three years depends on your aspirations.
Your data science and technological skills are crucial. If you've taken a break from technology, you may need to brush up on the latest innovation. XLRI Jamshedpur's online data science course may be ideal for this.
Data science courses may help you reach your career goals. XLRI courses may help you start a data science or related career. If your job aspirations are elsewhere, investigate other options.
An online degree from XLRI Jamshedpur may be a suitable choice if you want to work in data science or a related field. Before choosing, assess your skills, goals, and resources.
Do you think the PGCHRM course conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur gives an edge in your career, I believe it's a big no?
Aishwarya AnandStudied at the Xavier School of Management
PGCHRM is an abbreviation for Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management. For an HR practitioner who has not received much official schooling in the HR area, this will provide some formal knowledge of HR.
PGCHRM from XLRI Jamshedpur may help you get promoted because some organisations require it. XLRI Jamshedpur is considered one of the best college for Human resources that can give you an edge but it may not bring a big change in your career because it is not as valued as a full-time MBA.
Indrani ChatterjeePGDM from Xavier School of Management (2018)
XLRI Jamshedpur does not offer MPOD program directly but XLRI Jamshedpur offers this course in association with Weatherhead School of Management USA. XLRI Jamshedpur and US-based Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University have tied to offer an innovative program on Positive Organization Development and Change (MPOD) in India.
According to the two institutes, the new program commencing in November 2013 has been designed specifically for mid-level executives with a passion for leading change initiatives. It will aim at enhancing their leadership and change management skills, building sustainable institutions, and shaping vibrant communities.
The program which targets experienced professionals from all functional areas will cost around $35000 (or its equivalent in Rupees).
According to XLRI, the program will be facilitated jointly by an XLRI-Weatherhead faculty team which will include internationally acclaimed scholars, authors, thought leaders and intellectuals who have had a pioneering impact on organization development and change.
How must I prepare for the GD-PI rounds at XLRI Jamshedpur for the BM course?
Aishwarya AnandStudied at Xavier School of Management
The interview process at XLRI covers a wide range of topics and is designed to give the interviewers a comprehensive understanding of the candidate. During the interview, you may be asked questions about yourself, your past education, any work experience you may have, your family, hobbies, current affairs, and your views on various global issues.
It is important to prepare for the classic interview questions, but it is equally important not to memorize them verbatim. Instead, be prepared for any variations of the questions that may be asked. Some commonly asked questions include:
Can you tell me something about yourself?
Why do you want to pursue an MBA, and why have you chosen XLRI? Why have you chosen a particular stream such as marketing or finance?
Can you tell me about a specific incident in your past and what you learned from it?
It is essential to be familiar with every point on your CV. It is perfectly acceptable to say "I don't know" to a technical question during an interview, but it is not ideal to not be able to answer a question about yourself or your CV.
During the interview, the panelists may ask you to speak about yourself and provide arguments for and against any current government scheme. They may also ask you to design an E-R diagram for an IT system for managing the admissions process of XLRI, and can also inquire about your hobbies and passion. It is crucial to be prepared for a wide range of questions and be able to express oneself effectively.
How do the new HR programs of IIM Ranchi, NMIMS, and XIMB measure up to the established ones of XLRI, TISS, MDI and SCMHRD?
Apoorv AshutoshFormer PhD Candidate at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (2017–2020)
The simple answer to your question is no, the new HR programs of IIM Ranchi, NMIMS, or XIMB are not at par with the established ones XLRI, TISS, MDI, and SCMHRD. The established programs especially that of XLRI are the epitome of HR programs. They cannot be compared to the new ones at any given level or parameter.
Faculty: The professors of XLRI are renowned throughout the industry for their competency. They specialize in almost every domain one can think of be it Law, Competency Modeling, Compensation, or Performance Management.
Peers: It’s the cream students who get the opportunity to get into a prestigious college like XLRI. You can see tough competition between the finest students at college. Every individual has a valuable opinion and stands to contradict others. Their thinking pattern is broad and given a case study, they look at all angles from accounting to finance to laws while proposing the solution. The situation at TISS is also quite similar.
Now one can say that the curriculum can be replicated and learned faculty can be sought to match the quality of the HR program at these institutes. But the truth is faculty and curriculum are the main but not the only factors that determine an institute's worth. Its own culture, ethics, and background have a lot to do with the programs it offers.
So one cannot match XLRIs programs no matter how much they try.
How good is the HR MBA Course at SCMHRD? Is it comparable to XLRI and TISS?
Amit ChoudhuryM.A. in Human Resource Management, Tata Institute of Social Sciences
SCMHRD offers a good HR MBA program. It offers a decent curriculum and placements. SCMHRD placements in 2021 concluded with an average CTC of INR 16.5 LPA. The highest CTC offered was INR 33.6 LPA.
For HR, XLRI is better than SCMHRD. TISS is a great option for HR as well. In terms of placements, SCMHRD is comparable to TISS.
