Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is located in Baranagar (Kolkata), found by Professor P.C. Mahalanobis in Kolkata on 17th December, 1931. The college was recognized in 1959 by an Indian Parliament Act. ISI Kolkata is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutes which works under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) Government of India. Admission to the various academic programs of the ISI is based on the merit, which was judged by their performance in appropriate admission tests and interviews. ISI Kolkata follows a policy consistent with the national policy on reservation for candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Differently Abled (DA) categories regarding admission.
