MCC Chennai: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 26 Reviews

Admission to Madras Christian College (MCC) is conducted online based on merit, with candidates selected through 3 to 4 lists. The college is prestigious for its effective teaching methods and experienced faculty, who provide excellent mentorship. The assessment system includes three internal assessments and one end-of-semester exam per semester, together totaling 100 marks. However, some concerns about exam grading errors exist. MCC offers two fee structures: Aided and Self-Financed. The Aided stream, for morning students, resembles government institution fees, charging only for odd semesters, while the Self-Financed stream, linked to the management quota for evening students, has a feasible fee, requiring payment for all semesters.

Tuition fees total around 150,000 INR, decreasing each year. Additional costs include hostel fees of 36,000 INR annually and monthly expenses of 5,000-6,000 INR. The Self-Financed stream costs 60,000 INR per year, whereas the Aided stream ranges from 15,000 to 20,000 INR annually. MCC boasts strong placement opportunities, with 70-80% of students securing jobs in top companies like Infosys and Wipro. Eligible students must have at least 60-65% marks to participate in interviews.

The average salary package offered is 3 LPA, with the highest at 10 LPA. Notable alumni include Indra Nooyi and Dr. Radhakrishnan. Despite a proactive placement cell, many students prefer higher studies. MCC offers various scholarships based on caste and household income, including the government-provided post-matric scholarship and the Manna scheme. Applications have set deadlines. The college also provides comprehensive interview training through seminars and special classes. MCC offers a diverse educational environment with day and evening college options, including a well-maintained campus with good facilities like parking.

Overall, the fee structure is reasonable, and the educational and placement support is commendable.

MCC Chennai: 1 Answered Question

Which college is better for BBA course Loyola College or Madras Christian College?

Subhashree MukharjeeB.Sc. Physics,Loyola College,Chennai

There is not much difference when we talk about the course and the subjects but the environment is significantly different for both. Here are some things that you should know about the institutes.

Freedom- MCC offers a lot of freedom to its students in the way they dress and express themselves as compared to Loyola. Even for attendance, it is not as strict as Loyola. Loyola asks its students to pay for condonation and then sit for an exam.

Ragging- It is still very much prevalent at MCC and sometimes it crosses the healthy limit as well. On the other hand, ragging is very rare at Loyola.

Drug scene- MCC is infamous for its drug-related incidents. While enrolling their children, parents are quite worried about this. On the other hand, Loyola does not have such a problem.

Campus- Both the campuses are extremely beautiful with an amazing experience of studying in the college.

College life- When it comes to cultural and extracurricular activities, MCC is more active as compared to Loyola. They conduct a lot of fests and different events which offer its students a lot of opportunities.

Here is a brief overview of the institutes.

Category Loyola MCC
Companies Visited MRF, Infosys, TCS, etc. Deloitte, TCS, Wipro, etc.
Average CTC  3.5 lakh 2.31 lakh
Highest CTC 5.2 lakh 3.5 lakh

Therefore, it depends completely on what you want out of your college. If you want a good college life then you should opt for MCC. But if you want good academics then you should opt for Loyola. MCC has a diversified culture whereas Loyola has students mostly from Chennai.
