Ans. NIT Uttarakhand though sounds promising due to the NIT tag but UIET Chandigarh is definitely better than the former. UIET Chandigarh is affiliated to PU (Panjab University), which has a NIRF ranking of 72 whereas NIT Uttarakhand is yet to make it to the NIRF ranking list. Here are some of the reasons that made me choose UIET over NIT Uttarakhand: UIET is affiliated to PU, which is one of the oldest and finest universities in India. Unlike, NIT Uttarakhand which is comparatively a newer institute. NIT Uttarakhand is located in the northern part of India, Srinagar. It is close to nature but away from the industrial hub. Unlike UIET which is located in the capital city of Punjab, Chandigarh. This provides exposure to industries and opportunities. UIET Chandigarh encourages students to participate in various activities preparing them for their careers ahead. The admissions in both of these colleges are through JEE Main. Both of these colleges also offer scholarships on a need and merit basis. The facts in the table will give you an idea about their placements and course fees - Categories NIT Uttarakhand UIET Chandigarh Course Fee 5 Lakh 3.20 Lakh Placement Percentage 50% 80% Highest CTC 10.50 LPA 30 LPA Average CTC 6.80 LPA 7 LPA Recruiting Companies Capgemini, IBM, Infosys, HCL. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs. The only drawback of UIET is the poor campus infrastructure. Whereas, NIT Uttarakhand being a newer institute is well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The infrastructure of NIT Uttarakhand is far better than UIET Chandigarh. So, it’s a clear choice for you, to go for UIET. The only reason why someone will prefer NIT Uttarakhand over UIET Chandigarh is either for their love of mountains and a beautiful campus or the NIT tag.Read more
Ans. There are three options that you can look forward to, while choosing the college. You can refer to the points I have made for an easy comparison, mentioning mine as well as my batchmates' experience of studying in different colleges. Option-1: B.Tech IT from JSS Noida, CCET Chandigarh, or UIET. Studying at CCET Chandigarh i have to mention that, it does not offer an IT program but offers a CSE program. So, if you are looking forward to pursuing IT, then UIET (Panjab University) is the best option among all the colleges. CSE and IT students receive similar opportunities. In 2019, a total of 56 companies offered 309 jobs to the students of UIET. CSE being their highest placed branch followed by IT and ECE. The companies that offered jobs to both CSE and IT students include Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, KPMG and many more. With the PU tag and a NIRF ranking of 72, UIET records good placements among all the three. The following table will provide you the course fees of each college and the salary packages offered - Categories JSS Noida CCET Chandigarh UIET VIT Chennai Shiv Nadar, Noida Course Fee 2.20 lakh 2.45 lakh 3.20 lakh 1.76 lakh 9.40 lakh Highest CTC 8 LPA 15 LPA 30 LPA 41.6 LPA 31.5 LPA Average CTC 4 LPA 6 LPA 7 LPA 7.25 LPA 6.35 LPA Option-2: B.Tech ECE from VIT Chennai. VIT Chennai is a very good option. VIT Chennai has a brand name of Vellore Institute of Technology. B.Tech students at VIT Chennai receive placement opportunities from top companies like Microsoft, HP, TCS, Phillips and Bosch. If distance, transportation and location are not your primary concern you can easily opt for it. Option-3: B.Tech CSE from Shiv Nadar in Noida. If CSE is your choice, then you can definitely opt for this college. Shiv Nadar is a private university so a financial backup is necessary. It has a huge campus with all the necessary amenities. The return on investment is not that satisfactory. The fee is Rs.9.40 Lakhs and it is quite higher than the other institutions. Overall, if your interest lies in ECE then the VIT Chennai can be declared as the winner here. You may collaborate on some CS or IT courses or certifications, along with a VIT ECE program if you have a little interest in CS or IT. If you are interested in IT opt for UIET and if CSE is your preference then CCET will be a better option.Read more
Ans. Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is one of the most in-demand subjects in India. One of my friends from UIET Chandigarh mentioned what lacks in their college and why CGC Landran will be a better choice. B.Tech in CSE program of CGC Landran has already climbed up the ladder and the B.E. in CSE at UIET Chandigarh is still frozen to the ground. Categories UIET Chandigarh CGC Landran Recruiting Companies Infosys, Wipro, Microsoft, HCL, etc. Accenture, Capgemini, Dell, Deloitte, etc. Highest CTC 30 LPA 35 LPA Average CTC 7 LPA 5 LPA The reasons are mentioned below: UIET has a lot of internal politics involved which diverts the focus of students from studying. It is a kind of a public institution. The campus of UIET is in the main city of Chandigarh and the CGC campus is in the outskirts of the city. Being in the outskirts, it has a larger campus area with all the necessary facilities and amenities like various food joints, sports facilities, etc. The campus of UIET is bland in front of the beauty of CGC Landran. You will find students to be more disciplined in CGC as compared to UIET. They are quite irregular with their classes and lectures. The faculty of CGC is available to help the students whenever they need. The lectures are also responsibly taken on a regular basis, unlike UIET. CGC Landran builds the overall individual profile of the student along with academics and extracurriculars. There are various events held on a regular basis and students participate with enthusiasm. All these makes CGC Landran much better than UIET Chandigarh.Read more
Ans. Both these branches are completely different in terms of the course content and then the future job description as well, so the important thing here is to know what you want and how you want to shape your future. Comparison: If you are interested in coding then you should go for IT at UIET where you may not have the most appealing packages but if you do great in that college with good grades in all 4 years then you will definitely land a well-paying job at a company like TCS or Infosys. If you choose to do production engineering at NIT Agartala then there are some things that should be kept in mind, the branch itself isn’t well established and is average when you talk about faculties and the overall quality. However, the NIT tag will be beneficial for your career throughout your professional life. In NIT Agartala if you want to change your branch from Production Engineering to CSE or ECE, you need to maintain a minimum CGPA of 8.5 in the 1st semester. It also depends on the availability of seats in the branches that you are applying for. The table below gives an insight into the IT program at UIET and Production Engineering program at NIT Agartala. Basis IT at UIET Production Engineering NIT Agartala Average Package 5.94 LPA 5 LPA Highest Package 16 LPA 9 LPA Total Fees 3.20 lakhs 6.31 lakhs Entrance Exam JEE Main JEE Main NIT is a prestigious government institute and its name on your degree adds a lot of weight to it but the major deciding factor here should always be what you want to do in terms of the course in both these fields. So, if you are interested in coding and want to pursue a career in the IT sector go for IT at UIET. Even if you fail to secure a job through placement, you can opt for off-campus placements.Read more
Ans. If you want to compare VIT Vellore and UIET Chandigarh, you should look for the ranking of both the colleges. To know specific details like placements or faculty of VIT Vellore, reach out to any alumni or current students of the institute. Basis UIET VIT Vellore Ranking by Outlook 2019 22 for private engineering 13 for engineering Average CTC IT-5.94 LPA, Electronics & Electrical Engineering- 4.5 LPA 12 LPA Total Fees 3.20 lakhs 7.83 lakhs UIET: If you are choosing UIET, it will be better to go for IT provided you are not particularly interested in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. IT offers more job opportunities in the current industry. The placement record for IT at UIET is also better than that of Electronics and Electrical. For the academic year 2020, 80% or above students got placement from the IT department. The highest CTC received by the students of IT was 27 LPA. Amazon, American Express were some of the major recruiters for IT. Compare the two institutes based on ranking, placements, etc to determine which is better. For UIET, IT will be a better branch as compared to EEE.Read more
