Christian College, Chengannur was established in 1964. It is affiliated to the University of Kerala and accredited with Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. The college has been managed and owned by Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church. The aim of the college is to provide higher education in Arts & Science of the highest standard encouraging sound learning, building up character and upholding moral and spiritual values and creation of employment oriented skills is an additional goal. The mission of the institute is to provide quality higher education for the overall development of young men and women of central Travancore.

Extra Curricular Activities

  • NSS - The college has two national Service Scheme units. Volunteers N.S.S. actively participated in Leadership Training Camp, Special Youth Camp and State Level Camp on Anti-drug Campaign organized by the University.
  • NCC - The total strength of the NCC unit of the college is 60. Ten cadets participated in para sailing competition held at Kollam. Cadets conducted a ‘save energy campaign and posters were exhibited. This year 16 cadets passed the B certificate examination and 10 passed the C certificate examination.

Facilities

Library

The library has a collection of 26000 volumes including textbooks and bound periodicals. It subscribes 50 periodicals and 20 journals. The students and members of faculty can search 2300 journals and 50,000 books through the INFLIBNET facility.

Hostel

The hostel facility is available for both boys and girl students separately. The college has a Women’s Hostel with an intake capacity of 85 female students and a Men’s Hostel with an intake capacity of 20 male students.

  • Ms. Meera Venugopal, IInd Year B.Sc. Physics student, winner of the acclaimed reality show ‘Mambazham’ of the Kairali Channel has won the first prize for Malayalam recitation at the ‘Kerala University Youth Festival 2011’  

  • The College Mime team consisting of Jishnu Raveendran, Jesson Varghese, Jopy P. John, Ganesh R., Bibin K. Midhun M. Madhu and Graison N. Sam also won first prize in the ‘Kerala University Youth Festival 2011’
