Yes, I stay in hostel and it is compulsory to stay in hostel and also there is Co-ed hostels in the IISER Mohali means boys and girls have combined hostels and also common mess. There is pay and eat system in mess. For the first 2 years two students live together in single room and from 3rd year onwards they get separate single room. There is a health center in thy college.

Total 5 hostels among which one is visitor hostel which was mainly built for guests and parents' of students but due to less no of hostels seats in the 4 main hostels, some students of PhD are also staying there. Yes, it is compulsory to stay in hostels. It is mandatory for all students. One semester rent of hostel is around 2000 so for one year it become 4000. You have to live in shared room for 2 years and from 3rd year onwards you get a single room. For PhDs they get single room from the day of their joining.
There is compulsory to live in hostels if it was not compulsory I will daily go to my home as it is just 15km away. Hostels are fine, spacious and clean. Cold water is available for drinking and both cold and warm water is available in bathrooms for bathing or washing clothes.
I am in hostel-8 of our college there are total 4 hostels and visitor hostel in our campus. We have 24*7 hour water and electricity supply. Every room has a study table and almirah. Every room has attached balcony to it.

Our hostels are modern, with multiple elevators and twin-sharing rooms ( only for first two years and after 2 years you get single room). There are clean washrooms on each floor. There is also a visitor hostel in the campus for parents and guests.
