JIPMAT 2027 (Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu. In 2026, more than 13,800 candidates registered for the exam, which was held on June 7 across 81 centres in 61 cities. The 2027 cycle has not started yet — registration is expected to open in April 2027.

  • Registration: JIPMAT 2027 registration is expected to open in April 2027. In 2026, NTA opened applications on April 16 and the final deadline (after an extension) was May 13, giving students about four weeks to apply.
  • Admit Card: The JIPMAT 2027 admit card is expected to release in late May 2027, roughly two weeks before the exam. In 2026, NTA released the admit card before the June 7 exam date.
  • Exam Date: JIPMAT 2027 is expected to be held in the first or second week of June 2027. The 2026 exam was conducted on June 7. The paper has 100 questions worth 400 marks across three sections — QA, DILR, and VARC — in 150 minutes.
  • Result: The JIPMAT 2027 result is expected in late June 2027. In 2026, NTA declared the result on June 24 — just 17 days after the exam. IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu then release separate merit lists and admission offers.

What is JIPMAT 2027?

JIPMAT stands for Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test. NTA conducts this exam every year on behalf of IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu. The test gives you entry into the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), which is essentially a BBA + MBA combined degree offered at these two IIMs.

The 5-year IPM programme is designed for students who want to join a premier management institution right after Class 12, without going through a separate undergraduate degree and then an MBA entrance exam. You study for five years continuously and graduate with a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (equivalent to an MBA) from IIM Bodh Gaya or IIM Jammu.

JIPMAT is a Computer Based Test (CBT) with 100 multiple-choice questions across three sections — Quantitative Aptitude (QA), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC). There is no sectional time limit, and you can switch between sections freely during the 150-minute window.

One important thing to know: JIPMAT is separate from IPMAT. IIM Indore conducts its own IPMAT for its IPM programme, while IIM Rohtak runs a separate test called IPMAT Rohtak. JIPMAT is specifically for IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu only.

JIPMAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Before you fill the JIPMAT 2027 application form, check if you meet all eligibility conditions. NTA will reject applications that do not meet these requirements.

Nationality

You must be an Indian national to apply for JIPMAT 2027. NRI and foreign national candidates are not eligible.

Educational Qualification

  • You should have passed or be appearing for the Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent examination in 2025, 2026, or 2027.
  • You can be from any stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts. Mathematics is not compulsory for JIPMAT eligibility.
  • If you are appearing in Class 12 in 2027, you can still apply. Admission will be subject to you meeting the minimum percentage requirement when results are out.

Minimum Marks in Class 12

  • General and EWS candidates: You must have scored at least 60% in Class 12 (aggregate of all subjects).
  • SC, ST, and PwD candidates: You need at least 55% in Class 12.

Age Limit

  • General, EWS, and OBC-NCL: You should be born on or after August 1, 2004 (for the 2027 cycle, based on 2026 rules). There is no upper age limit for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.

Exact age limit criteria for JIPMAT 2027 will be confirmed in the official NTA notification. The above is based on the 2026 eligibility rules.

Class 10 Marks — Why They Matter

Class 10 marks are not part of the JIPMAT eligibility criteria. However, IIM Jammu uses Class 10 academic performance as a component in its composite merit score for final selection. So your Class 10 marks do matter for IIM Jammu admission, even though they are not an eligibility requirement.

Criteria General / EWS / OBC-NCL SC / ST / PwD
Class 12 Minimum Marks 60% 55%
Stream Required Any (Science, Commerce, Arts)
Year of Passing Class 12 2025, 2026, or 2027

The fee is non-refundable once paid. Make sure all your details are correct before making the payment.

Documents Needed for JIPMAT Application

  • Passport-size photograph (recent, colour, JPEG format, under 200 KB)
  • Scanned signature (JPEG format, under 100 KB)
  • Class 10 mark sheet or board certificate
  • Class 12 mark sheet (if already passed) or admit card (if currently appearing)

JIPMAT 2027 Exam Pattern

The JIPMAT 2027 exam pattern is expected to stay the same as in 2026. The test is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. You get 150 minutes to answer 100 multiple-choice questions, and there is no sectional time limit — you can manage your time across all three sections as you like.

Section Number of Questions Maximum Marks
Quantitative Aptitude (QA) 33 132
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) 33 132
Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) 34 136
Total 100 400

JIPMAT Marking Scheme

Answer Type Marks
Correct Answer +4
Wrong Answer −1 (Negative Marking)
Unattempted Question 0

Since there is negative marking of 1 mark per wrong answer, avoid blind guessing. If you can eliminate even two of the four options, attempting the question is generally worth the risk. But if you have no idea, skipping is safer.

Key Features of the JIPMAT 2027 Exam

  • All 100 questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options and one correct answer.
  • No sectional time limit — you can freely move between sections during the 150-minute window.
  • The exam is fully computer-based — no pen, paper, or OMR sheet.
  • In 2026, JIPMAT was conducted at 81 centres across 61 cities. A similar spread is expected in 2027.
  • VARC has one extra question (34) compared to QA and DILR (33 each), making it the highest-marks section at 136 out of 400.

JIPMAT 2027 Syllabus

The JIPMAT 2027 syllabus covers Class 10 to 12 level topics in Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, and English. NTA has not released a topic-by-topic official syllabus, but past exam papers give a clear picture of what each section covers.

Section A: Quantitative Aptitude (QA) — 33 Questions

This section tests your mathematical ability up to Class 11 level. NCERT textbooks for Class 9, 10, and 11 are the starting point for most topics.

  • Number System: LCM, HCF, divisibility rules, remainders, factors and multiples, prime numbers
  • Arithmetic: Percentages, profit and loss, discount, simple interest, compound interest, ratio and proportion, time and work, time, speed and distance, mixtures and alligation, partnership
  • Algebra: Linear equations in one and two variables, quadratic equations, inequalities, functions, arithmetic progressions, geometric progressions
  • Geometry and Mensuration: Lines and angles, triangles (congruence and similarity), circles, quadrilaterals, area and perimeter of 2D shapes, surface area and volume of 3D shapes (cube, cylinder, cone, sphere)
  • Statistics: Mean, median, mode, range, basic probability
  • Set Theory: Union, intersection, Venn diagrams
  • Coordinate Geometry: Distance formula, section formula, slope of a line

Section B: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) — 33 Questions

This section covers two sub-areas. DI questions typically come in sets of 4-5 questions based on a single data source, while LR questions may be standalone or set-based.

Data Interpretation:

  • Tables
  • Bar graphs (single and stacked)
  • Line charts
  • Pie charts
  • Caselets and mixed DI sets

Logical Reasoning:

  • Blood relations
  • Coding-decoding
  • Seating arrangements (linear and circular)
  • Direction sense
  • Syllogisms
  • Number and letter series
  • Puzzles and scheduling
  • Clocks and calendars
  • Input-output problems
  • Analogies

Section C: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) — 34 Questions

Reading Comprehension passages carry the largest share of marks in VARC. Each passage typically has 3-5 questions.

  • Reading Comprehension: 2-3 passages of moderate length; factual and inferential questions
  • Para Jumbles: Rearranging sentences into a coherent paragraph
  • Sentence Correction: Identifying and correcting grammatical errors in a given sentence
  • Fill in the Blanks: Grammar-based and vocabulary-based fill-in-the-blank questions
  • Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution
  • Error Identification: Spotting the incorrect part in a multi-part sentence
  • Para Completion: Selecting the sentence that best completes a given paragraph

VARC carries 136 marks — the highest of the three sections. Students from non-Science streams often find this the easiest section, which can give them a strong overall score even with a moderate QA performance.

JIPMAT 2026 Exam Statistics — Context for 2027

  • Total registered candidates (2026): 13,876
  • Total candidates who appeared (2026): 11,527
  • Attendance rate (2026): 83.07%
  • Exam centres (2026): 81 centres in 61 cities across India
  • Total available seats: 260 (across IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu)

Based on 2026 figures, roughly 44 students appeared for every available seat. For General category candidates (about 50% of total seats, i.e., ~130 seats), the effective competition is even sharper.

JIPMAT 2027 Cutoff

The JIPMAT 2027 cutoff will be released by IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu separately after the NTA result is declared. There is no single unified cutoff for JIPMAT. Each IIM prepares its own merit list and sets its own admission cutoff based on available seats and category-wise demand.

Expected JIPMAT 2027 Cutoff — IIM Bodh Gaya (Score Out of 400)

IIM Bodh Gaya releases score-based (raw marks) cutoffs for admission.

Category Expected Cutoff Score (2027) Reference Cutoff (2026)
General / EWS 280 – 310 280 – 310
OBC-NCL 220 – 250 220 – 240
SC 160 – 200 160 – 200
ST 100 – 150 100 – 150
PwD 100 – 150 100 – 140

Expected JIPMAT 2027 Cutoff — IIM Jammu

IIM Jammu releases rank-based cutoffs, not raw score cutoffs. However, based on 2026 trends, the approximate score range needed for IIM Jammu admission is:

Category Expected Score Range (2027) Reference Score Range (2026)
General / EWS 280 – 300 280 – 300
OBC-NCL 230 – 265 230 – 260
SC 160 – 195 160 – 195
ST 100 – 145 100 – 140

These are expected estimates for JIPMAT 2027 based on 2026 trends. Official cutoffs will be released by IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu separately after the 2027 result is declared.

JIPMAT Sectional Qualifying Cutoff — IIM Jammu

In addition to the overall score, IIM Jammu requires you to clear a minimum sectional percentile cutoff in each of the three sections. Meeting the overall score alone is not enough — you must clear all three sections too.

Category Minimum Sectional Percentile (Each Section)
General 50th Percentile
EWS / OBC-NCL 35th Percentile
SC / ST / PwD 25th Percentile

JIPMAT 2027 Marks vs Rank

The marks vs rank table below is based on 2026 trends, where 11,527 candidates appeared for JIPMAT. For 2027, these numbers may shift slightly depending on total registrations and exam difficulty. Use this as a reference to set a realistic score target.

Score Range (Out of 400) Expected Rank Range (2027) Admission Prospects
380 – 400 Rank 1 – 30 Strong at both institutes (General category)
350 – 379 Rank 31 – 150 Very good at both institutes (General)
320 – 349 Rank 151 – 450 Likely at both institutes (General)
300 – 319 Rank 451 – 900 Possible at both (General); depends on category and IIM Jammu composite score
280 – 299 Rank 901 – 1,800 Borderline for General; comfortable for OBC-NCL
260 – 279 Rank 1,801 – 3,000 Difficult for General; possible for OBC-NCL/EWS
220 – 259 Rank 3,001 – 5,500 SC/ST category consideration
Below 220 Rank 5,500+ Very low chances across categories

With 260 total seats and roughly 11,500 candidates appearing, the General category has approximately 130 seats (50% reservation). This means you need to be in the top 1,800 ranks for a realistic shot at either institute in the General category — which translates to a score of roughly 280 or above.

JIPMAT 2027 Selection Process

The JIPMAT selection process works differently at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. There is no common centralised counselling — each IIM runs its own independent admission process after NTA declares the result.

A key advantage of JIPMAT over many other management entrance exams: there is no Written Ability Test (WAT) or Personal Interview (PI). Final selection is based entirely on your JIPMAT score, Class 10 performance, and Class 12 marks — with weightage varying by institute.

IIM Jammu: Composite Merit Score System

IIM Jammu calculates a composite merit score for each eligible candidate. This score combines your JIPMAT performance with your past academic record.

  • Candidates must first clear the sectional qualifying percentile cutoff in each section (50th percentile for General; see the Cutoff section above).
  • Once the sectional cutoff is cleared, IIM Jammu computes a composite score using JIPMAT marks, Class 10 board marks, and Class 12 board marks.
  • JIPMAT score carries the largest share of the composite score.
  • Final merit list is drawn on the basis of this composite score, category-wise.

IIM Bodh Gaya: JIPMAT Score-Based Merit List

IIM Bodh Gaya prepares its merit list primarily based on JIPMAT raw scores. Class 10 and Class 12 marks are checked only for eligibility — they do not add to the merit score.

  • Candidates are ranked in descending order of JIPMAT raw score.
  • In case of a tie (identical scores), IIM Bodh Gaya uses Class 12 board performance as the tiebreaker.
  • No WAT or PI at any stage — your JIPMAT score is the deciding factor.

Reservation Policy at Both IIMs

Category Reservation
General (Open) 50%
OBC-NCL 27%
SC 15%
ST 7.5%
EWS 10% (within General quota)
PwD 5% (horizontal, across all categories)

JIPMAT 2027 Counselling and Admission

Unlike JEE or NEET, there is no centralised JIPMAT counselling portal. IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu each run their own admission process independently after NTA declares the JIPMAT result. You must track both institutes’ official websites separately if you have applied to both.

IIM Jammu Admission Process — Step by Step

  • Step 1 – Score Declaration: NTA releases the JIPMAT 2027 scorecard online.
  • Step 2 – Composite Score Calculation: IIM Jammu computes a composite merit score for each eligible candidate using JIPMAT score + Class 10 marks + Class 12 marks.
  • Step 3 – Merit List: IIM Jammu releases a category-wise merit list on its portal. Candidates on the list receive a provisional admission offer.
  • Step 4 – Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates upload supporting documents — Class 10 mark sheet, Class 12 mark sheet, category certificate (if applicable), and photo ID.
  • Step 5 – Seat Acceptance Fee: Selected candidates pay the seat acceptance fee within the stipulated deadline to confirm their seat. Missing this deadline means losing the offer to the next candidate on the waitlist.
  • Step 6 – Waitlist Rounds: IIM Jammu releases multiple rounds of offers until all seats are filled. If you are on the waitlist, monitor the portal regularly.

IIM Bodh Gaya Admission Process — Step by Step

  • Step 1 – Score Declaration: NTA releases the JIPMAT 2027 result and scorecard.
  • Step 2 – Merit List: IIM Bodh Gaya prepares a merit list based on JIPMAT raw scores and publishes it on its portal.
  • Step 3 – Admission Offer: Candidates on the merit list receive an admission offer via email and the institute’s portal.
  • Step 4 – Document Submission: Selected candidates submit original documents for verification, either online or at the institute.
  • Step 5 – Fee Payment: Pay the seat acceptance fee within the deadline to secure your admission. Failure to pay means the seat goes to the next candidate.
  • Step 6 – Multiple Rounds: If earlier-selected candidates decline offers, IIM Bodh Gaya runs additional rounds of offers.

You can apply to both IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya using the same JIPMAT scorecard. If you receive offers from both institutes, you must choose one and pay only that institute’s acceptance fee. You cannot hold a confirmed seat at both simultaneously.

IPM Programme at IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu

JIPMAT vs IPMAT — Key Differences

  • JIPMAT: Conducted by NTA; for IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu only
  • IPMAT (IIM Indore): Conducted by IIM Indore itself; for IIM Indore’s IPM programme only
  • IPMAT Rohtak: Conducted by IIM Rohtak; for IIM Rohtak’s IPM programme only
  • These are three separate exams with different patterns, syllabi, and selection criteria. Apply to each one separately if you want to be considered by those institutes.

JIPMAT 2027 Preparation Tips

JIPMAT tests Class 10-11 level Mathematics, logical reasoning, and English. The difficulty is manageable if you start well before April and follow a structured plan for each section.

Quantitative Aptitude Strategy

  • Start with NCERT Mathematics for Class 9, 10, and 11. These books cover 80% of QA topics in JIPMAT.
  • Give extra time to Arithmetic — Percentages, Ratio, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, and Speed Distance Time appear in almost every JIPMAT paper.
  • Geometry and Mensuration are formula-heavy but predictable — learn all standard formulas and practice application.
  • Avoid spending too much time on advanced topics like Trigonometry. Standard JIPMAT QA stays within Class 10-11 scope.
  • Target 20 out of 33 correct answers in QA as a minimum to stay competitive.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning Strategy

  • Practice DI sets (tables, bar graphs, pie charts, line charts) every day — speed and accuracy in reading and calculating from graphs is the key differentiator.
  • For LR, focus on Seating Arrangement, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, and Syllogisms — these appear most frequently in JIPMAT.
  • Since JIPMAT has no sectional time limit, you can skip difficult DILR sets and return to them later. Do not get stuck on one complex set.
  • Practise at least 3-4 full DILR sets per week in timed conditions.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension Strategy

  • Read English newspapers or editorials for 30 minutes daily. This builds both reading speed and comprehension — skills that directly impact your RC score.
  • Practice 2-3 RC passages every day. Practise identifying the main idea, tone, author’s intent, and inferential answers — not just direct factual questions.
  • Revise basic grammar rules: subject-verb agreement, tenses, articles, prepositions, and modifiers. These form the basis of Sentence Correction questions.
  • Build vocabulary consistently using flashcards or wordlists — Synonyms, Antonyms, and One-Word Substitutions are standard JIPMAT VARC question types.
  • VARC has 34 questions and 136 marks — a strong VARC performance can compensate for a moderate QA score in the overall total.

Mock Tests and Previous Year Papers

  • Solve all available JIPMAT previous year papers (2021 to 2026) under timed, exam-like conditions. This gives you the most accurate read on difficulty level and question style.
  • Take at least one full-length mock test per week from October 2026 onwards, and ramp up to 2-3 per week in the final two months before the exam.
  • After each mock, spend at least as much time analysing your mistakes as you spent taking the test — this is where real improvement happens.
  • In the final four weeks before the exam, shift your focus from learning new topics to accuracy, speed, and managing negative marking smartly.

FAQs

Ques. What is JIPMAT 2027 exam date?

Ans. NTA has not announced the official JIPMAT 2027 exam date yet. Based on the 2026 schedule — where the exam was held on June 7, 2026 — JIPMAT 2027 is expected to be conducted in early June 2027. IIM Bodh Gaya selects candidates purely on JIPMAT raw score. IIM Jammu uses a composite score combining JIPMAT marks with Class 10 and Class 12 performance — but there is still no PI or WAT at any stage.

Ques. What is the JIPMAT 2027 application fee?

Ans. The expected JIPMAT 2027 application fee (based on the 2026 structure) is Rs. 2,000 for General, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, and Rs. 1,000 for SC, ST, PwD, and Transgender candidates. The fee is paid online through the NTA portal and is non-refundable. The confirmed fee will appear in the official 2027 notification.

Ques. How many students appear for JIPMAT every year?

Ans. In JIPMAT 2026, 13,876 students registered and 11,527 appeared — an attendance rate of 83.07%. The exam was held across 81 centres in 61 cities. With only 260 total seats across IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu, roughly 44 students competed for each available seat in 2026. Registration numbers have been growing each year, so competition for 2027 may be slightly higher.

Ques. What is a good score in JIPMAT for IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya?

Ans. Based on 2026 trends, a score of 300 or above out of 400 gives you a strong chance at both institutes in the General category. The expected cutoff range for General category is 280–310 for IIM Bodh Gaya and 280–300 for IIM Jammu. For OBC-NCL candidates, 220–265 marks is the approximate target range. Scoring 320 or above significantly improves your chances and removes uncertainty around waitlist movement.

Ques. Can I apply to both IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya with one JIPMAT score?

Ans. Yes. You can apply to both IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya using the same JIPMAT 2027 scorecard. Each IIM runs its own separate admission process, and you may receive offers from both. If that happens, you must choose one and pay that institute’s acceptance fee — you cannot hold a confirmed seat at both simultaneously.

Ques. What is the JIPMAT 2027 exam pattern?

Ans. JIPMAT 2027 is expected to follow the 2026 pattern: 100 MCQs, 400 total marks, 150 minutes, and no sectional time limit. The three sections are Quantitative Aptitude (33 questions, 132 marks), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (33 questions, 132 marks), and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (34 questions, 136 marks). Marking: +4 for correct, −1 for wrong, and 0 for unattempted.

Ques. What is the difference between JIPMAT and IPMAT?

Ans. JIPMAT is conducted by NTA for admission to IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu. IPMAT is conducted by IIM Indore for its own IPM programme. IPMAT Rohtak is a separate exam run by IIM Rohtak. All three are independent exams — you need to apply and appear for each one separately if you want to be considered by those specific institutes. A JIPMAT score alone will not get you admission to IIM Indore or IIM Rohtak.
