Class 6 Maths Chapter 6 Integers has a number of important concepts which are as given below – 

  • The absolute value of an integer refers to a numerical value of an integer without considering its sign.

For Example: The absolute value of -7 and +7 is 7 itself.
  •  On a number line, the number increases as one moves toward the right and decreases as we move toward the left.

Hence, the order of integers can be written as: –5, –4, – 3, – 2, – 1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Example: 5 + 3 = 3 + 5 

  • The product of a negative and a positive integer is always a negative integer.

Example: 10 × −2 = −20

  • Distributive Property of Integers: Under multiplication and addition, the integers show the distributive property.

For any integers a, b and c, a × (b + c) = a × b + a × c.
