- Properties of Materials – All the objects present around us are made up of different materials. For example, tables are made up of wood, books are made up of paper etc.
| All the materials have their own unique properties that makes them different from other materials. |
- Hardness – Hardness is one of the properties of materials. Some materials are hard while some are soft.
| Materials which can be easily compressed are called soft materials while those which are difficult to compress are categorised as hard materials. |
- Solubility – Depending on whether a material dissolves in water or remain separate, materials are classified as soluble and insoluble.
| Materials which completely disappear when dissolved in water are soluble while those which do not mix with water are called insoluble. |
- Transparency – Transparency is another property of materials. Materials can be transparent, translucent or opaque.
| The materials through which objects can be seen clearly are called transparent. Through translucent materials, objects can be seen but not clearly. Opaque materials are those materials through which objects cannot be seen. |
