Fractions: Fractions are represented as numerical value in mathematics and can be defined as pieces of a whole. A fraction is a piece or sector of a whole that can be any number, a specified value, or an item. Example 2/5, 7/8, 5/9.
| Example 1: Add 5/8 and 6/10 Ans. Take LCM of the denominators 8 and 10. LCM of 8 and 10 = 40 Convert the denominator into 40 by multiplying it by the respective factor. Multiply the same factor with the numerator as well. \(\frac{5 \times 5}{8 \times 5} + \frac{6 \times 4}{10 \times 4}\) = 25/40 + 24/40 = 49/40 = \(1 \frac{9}{40}\) |
Decimal Numbers: Decimal numbers are the most often used method of expressing both integer and non-integer values. A decimal point separates the full number from the fractional half, making decimals one of the sorts of numbers.
| Example 2: Convert 4/7 into decimal number. Ans. To convert a fraction into decimal number, just divide the numberator by denominator. 4/7 = 0.571 |
