Example From Class 7 Chapter 2 Fractions and Decimals

Ques. Evaluate

\(\frac{16}{3} \div \frac{5}{12}\)

Ans.

\(\frac{16}{3} \div \frac{5}{12}\)

To simplify, we should reverse either of the fractions

Therefore

\(\frac{5}{12}\) can be written in its inverse form as \(\frac{12}{5}\)

Hence,

\(\frac{16}{3} \times \frac{12}{5}\) = \(\frac{16 \times 12}{3 \times 5}\)

= \(\frac{192}{15}\)

Simplifying we get,

\(\frac{16}{3} \div \frac{5}{12}\) = \(\frac{64}{5}\)
