EBS University, officially EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht, is a private business and law university headquartered in Oestrich-Winkel and Wiesbaden, Germany. Founded in 1971, the institution holds AACSB accreditation and focuses on management, finance, and law education. Its Master in Finance is ranked 30th globally in the Financial Times 2026 ranking and 2nd in Germany.
The university delivers all bachelor, master, MBA, and doctoral programmes entirely in English, which suits Indian applicants without German language preparation. The primary Master’s programmes for Indian students at EBS University include the Master in Management, Master in Finance, Master in Business Analytics (AI), and the 12-month Full-Time MBA. Undergraduate options include the Bachelor in Business Studies and Bachelor in Law, Politics and Economics.
- Ranking: Master in Finance 30th worldwide, Financial Times 2026 (2nd in Germany)
- Type: Private business university, AACSB accredited, founded 1971
- Intakes: Fall (August) and Spring (January), rolling admissions
- Acceptance Rate: around 50% (estimated figure; EBS does not publish an official institutional rate)
- Postgraduate Tuition: EUR 29,780 to EUR 37,780 total (INR 32.49 lakh to INR 41.21 lakh)
- Average Master’s Starting Salary: EUR 55,000 to EUR 70,000 per year (INR 60 lakh to INR 76 lakh, market aggregator estimate)
The Master in Finance rose from 37th to 30th globally in the Financial Times ranking between 2025 and 2026. The Master in Management is placed 52nd worldwide in Financial Times 2025 and 64th in the QS Business Masters Rankings 2026. Both flagship programmes sit inside the German top 6, ahead of several older business faculties.
As a private German university, EBS charges tuition of EUR 29,780 upwards for master’s degrees, unlike the free public system that most Indian students use at public universities in Germany. Early-application bonuses of up to EUR 3,000 offset part of this cost. Indian applicants must complete APS certification before student visa filing, and Germany’s 18-month post-study work visa applies after graduation.
Exchange rate used: 1 EUR = INR 109.09 as of July 2026
Admission Status: Open. EBS University follows rolling admissions with no fixed application deadline. For Indian applicants who require a student visa, the university recommends submitting Spring 2027 applications by 15 October 2026 and Fall 2027 applications by 30 May 2027 to allow APS certification and visa processing time.

EBS University Admission 2027
EBS University runs rolling admissions across two intakes each year: Fall (August) and Spring (January). There is no fixed application deadline, but Indian applicants who need a student visa are advised to apply at least 2 months before the semester start so APS certification and embassy processing can complete on time.
EBS University Application Timeline for Indian Applicants 2027
The table below lists the key milestones for Spring and Fall 2027 intakes. Timelines apply to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes unless noted.
| Milestone | Date | Notes for Indian Applicants |
|---|---|---|
| Spring 2027 recommended visa deadline | 15 October 2026 | Rolling; late submissions accepted but visa risk rises |
| Spring 2027 semester start | 14 January 2027 | Bachelor cohort starts 18 January 2027 |
| Fall 2027 recommended visa deadline | 30 May 2027 | Book APS interview 6 to 8 weeks earlier |
| Fall 2027 semester start | Expected August 2027 (based on prior cycle) | Full-Time MBA cohort starts this intake |
Planning note: EBS does not charge an application fee, so Indian applicants can submit before all documents are finalised and upload supporting papers as they arrive. APS certification through the German embassy in New Delhi is the slowest step and should be booked first.

EBS University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Requirements at EBS University vary by degree level, and all thresholds below are drawn from the official admissions pages of the university.
Postgraduate Requirements at EBS University 2027
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree with strong grades (Indian applicants typically need 65% or above in a relevant discipline)
- English: IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 95 (0-120 legacy scale), Duolingo 125, TOEIC 945, or Cambridge CAE grade A/B/C
- Admissions test (MBA and some MSc): GMAT, GRE, Business Admissions Test (BAT), EBSgrad Test, or CAT
- APS certification: Mandatory for Indian applicants before student visa filing
Undergraduate Requirements at EBS University 2027
- Academic: Class 12 with strong marks (Indian applicants typically need 75% or above)
- English: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80 (0-120 legacy scale), TOEIC 785, or Cambridge FCE grade A/B
- APS certification: Mandatory before visa application
Key insight: EBS waives its English test requirement for Indian applicants whose bachelor’s degree was taught in English, and also for those with two or more years of work experience in an English-speaking country. Applicants should request the waiver in writing at the application stage rather than after admission.
EBS University Acceptance Rate 2027
EBS University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Independent aggregators place the figure at around 50% (estimated figure), which reflects a selective private business school with an interview stage.
Because there is no year-on-year official series, a rate trend table is not shown. Indian applicants should treat the estimate as directional, not a fixed selectivity benchmark.
Selection at EBS combines academic record, an interview, and an admissions test (GMAT, GRE, or the internal EBSgrad Test), so a strong file across all three elements matters more than the headline rate.
Reality check: The interview is the biggest filter for Indian applicants. A well-prepared 30-minute conversation about career goals and programme fit lifts an average academic profile more than another 10 GMAT points.

EBS University Fees and Cost of Living for Indian Students 2027
The total annual cost of studying at EBS University for an Indian master’s student lands between EUR 20,000 and EUR 26,000 (approximately INR 21.82 lakh to INR 28.36 lakh), covering per-year tuition of about EUR 8,000 to EUR 12,000 and living costs in the Wiesbaden or Oestrich-Winkel area.
EBS University Tuition Fees for Indian Students 2027
Tuition at EBS is charged per semester and does not vary by nationality. Total programme fees range from EUR 27,830 at the accelerated end of master’s programmes to EUR 54,480 for the three-year bachelor.
| Level | Total Tuition Range (EUR) | Total Tuition Range (INR) |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor (6 semesters) | EUR 54,480 | INR 59.43 lakh |

| Full-Time MBA (2 semesters) | EUR 29,780 | INR 32.49 lakh |
Monthly Cost of Living in Wiesbaden for EBS University Students
Wiesbaden and Oestrich-Winkel are calmer than large German cities such as Munich or Frankfurt, which keeps rent lower than the national student average. The figures below are estimated market ranges for Indian students.
| Category | Monthly (EUR) | Monthly (INR) |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation | EUR 500 to EUR 750 | INR 54,545 to INR 81,818 |
| Food and Groceries | EUR 250 to EUR 300 | INR 27,273 to INR 32,727 |
| Transportation | EUR 50 to EUR 100 | INR 5,455 to INR 10,909 |
| Books and Materials | EUR 50 | INR 5,455 |
| Personal and Leisure | EUR 150 to EUR 200 | INR 16,364 to INR 21,818 |
| Total Monthly (estimated) | EUR 1,000 to EUR 1,400 | INR 1.09 lakh to INR 1.53 lakh |
| Total Annual (estimated) | EUR 12,000 to EUR 16,800 | INR 13.09 lakh to INR 18.33 lakh |
Insider note: Student housing near the Oestrich-Winkel campus is cheaper than Wiesbaden city centre, and the semester transport ticket already covers the regional rail link between the two. Indian students who share a two-bedroom apartment often bring rent below EUR 450 per person.
EBS University Campus, Facilities and Student Life
EBS University operates a two-campus model, with the main academic campus in Oestrich-Winkel on the Rhine river and the law school and executive education in Wiesbaden, the state capital of Hesse. Both sit inside the Frankfurt Rhine-Main metro area.
- Location and transport: Oestrich-Winkel is a 60-minute train ride from Frankfurt Airport; Wiesbaden campus is 30 minutes by regional train
- Housing: Private rentals dominate; the university helps international students book through partner housing platforms in the first semester
- Facilities: Bloomberg trading room used by finance students, and a dedicated career services hub with recruiter days
- Indian community: Small but active cohort; the international office runs orientation and cultural events every semester
What Indian students say: Applicants who spoke about EBS in student forums flagged three consistent points. The class sizes are small enough for direct professor access, corporate networking through recruiter days is stronger than in most German public universities, and rent in Oestrich-Winkel is a meaningful discount versus Frankfurt.
EBS University Scholarships 2027
EBS University offers a set of internal merit awards for bachelor and master students, and Indian applicants are also eligible to apply for external German government scholarships such as DAAD. The Deutschlandstipendium is the flagship jointly funded award available at the university.
| Scholarship | Type | Award Value | Eligibility (one line) | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deutschlandstipendium | Merit | EUR 300/month (INR 32,727/month) for 12 months | Strong academic record, open to international students at EBS | Verify at the official EBS scholarship page |
| EBS Early Application Bonus (Master’s) | Merit | EUR 3,000 tuition reduction (INR 3.27 lakh) | Confirm master’s admission within the early window | Rolling; tied to application date |
| EBS Early Application Bonus (Bachelor) | Merit | EUR 500 tuition reduction (INR 54,545) | Confirm Bachelor in Business Studies within the early window | Rolling; tied to application date |
| DAAD Study Scholarship (external) | Merit | Approximately EUR 992/month (INR 1.08 lakh/month) | Indian bachelor graduates entering a German master’s | Verify at the DAAD India portal |
Planning note: The Deutschlandstipendium at EBS runs a single annual application cycle each autumn, and the pool is small. Indian applicants who miss it should stack the early application bonus, the DAAD Study Scholarship, and an assistantship at the university’s centres to close the funding gap.

EBS University Rankings 2027
EBS University is not ranked as a full institution in the QS World University Rankings, THE World Rankings, or US News Global. Instead, its recognition comes from programme-level and business-school rankings, led by the Master in Finance at 30th globally in the Financial Times 2026 ranking.

| Financial Times Masters in Finance 2026 | Master in Finance | 30th globally | 2nd |

Key insight: Indian recruiters and Indian banks look for German university degree recognition through the Anabin database rather than a QS World rank. EBS is listed as an H+ institution on Anabin, which means the master’s degree is treated as equivalent for Indian government jobs and education loan approval.

EBS University Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
EBS University publishes graduate employment data through its career services office, and aggregator reports place employment within six months of graduation above 95%, driven by the Frankfurt Rhine-Main employer network and a corporate partner list built over five decades.
- Employment within 6 months: 98% per the 2023 graduate survey (university/aggregator source)
- Full-Time MBA placement rate: 100% (aggregator source)
- Median master’s starting salary: EUR 55,000 to EUR 70,000 per year (INR 60 lakh to INR 76 lakh, market aggregator estimate)
- Representative recruiters: Deutsche Bank, KPMG, Accenture, BMW, SAP, Siemens, Amazon, P&G (aggregator source, sectors: banking, consulting, automotive, tech, FMCG)
- Alumni network: Around 10,000 professionals worldwide (aggregator source)
Career support at EBS runs recruiter days, one-to-one coaching, and CV clinics tuned to the German employer style. Indian graduates use Germany’s 18-month post-study work visa to convert internships into full-time offers, and the salary bands above sit comfortably above the average for MBA programmes in Germany.
Insider note: Indian MBA graduates from EBS most often land offers in finance, consulting, and automotive management, and language matters. Roles at Deutsche Bank and BMW usually require B1 or B2 German to convert an internship into a full-time contract, so building German alongside the programme is a practical accelerator.
EBS University vs Peer Universities
The peer set below covers three private German business schools that Indian applicants shortlist against EBS, plus one European reference. Fee and salary figures for peers are market estimates unless the school publishes official numbers.
| University | Global Rank Reference | Acceptance Rate | Avg Master’s Fee | Median Salary | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EBS University | Not in QS World; FT Finance 30th 2026 | Around 50% (est.) | EUR 33,780 (INR 36.85 lakh) | EUR 55K-70K (INR 60-76 lakh, market est.) | FT Master in Finance Top 30, AACSB accredited |
| WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management | Not in QS World; FT MiM Top 25 | NA | EUR 42,000 (INR 45.82 lakh, market est.) | EUR 65K-80K (INR 71-87 lakh, market est.) | Strongest Master in Management brand in Germany |
| Frankfurt School of Finance and Management | Not in QS World; FT Master in Finance ranked | NA | EUR 38,000 (INR 41.45 lakh, market est.) | EUR 55K-65K (INR 60-71 lakh, market est.) | Frankfurt banking cluster proximity |
| ESMT Berlin | Not in QS World; FT MiM ranked | NA | EUR 32,500 (INR 35.45 lakh, market est.) | EUR 60K-75K (INR 65-82 lakh, market est.) | Berlin ecosystem, tech and startup focus |
EBS stands out on Master in Finance placement, ranked in the FT global Top 30, and on total price against WHU. It sits behind WHU on the MiM ranking and behind ESMT on Berlin ecosystem reach, so applicants should match the university to the target sector rather than the headline brand. For a wider list, see all universities in Germany for Indian applicants.
Planning note: Indian applicants running EBS against WHU should compare the Master in Finance track. WHU has broader alumni reach in consulting, EBS has the current FT edge in finance placement, and a well-tuned choice depends on which sector the applicant is targeting.
EBS University fits an Indian applicant who wants a Finance-focused German master’s at a private school, with a total investment of around INR 55 to 60 lakh across tuition and living costs. The market salary band of EUR 55,000 to EUR 70,000 delivers a payback window inside four to five years for master’s graduates and inside three years for MBA graduates.
Indian students gain three practical advantages at EBS: the fully English-taught curriculum removes the German language barrier before entry, the 18-month post-study work visa lets graduates convert internships into offers, and the AACSB accreditation supports education loan approvals at Indian banks.
Applicants who need a QS World Top 100 institutional rank, a public tuition-free tuition structure, or a large STEM engineering campus should look elsewhere. A realistic alternative is Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, which sits in the same private German business school tier with a stronger banking cluster on its doorstep.
EBS University FAQs
Ques. Does EBS University charge an application fee for degree programmes?
Ans. EBS University does not charge any application fee for its bachelor, master, MBA, or doctoral programmes. Indian applicants can submit the online application through the official EBS apply portal without upfront payment, and can upload supporting documents such as transcripts, English test scores, and CV over multiple sessions as papers become available.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at EBS?
Ans. Indian students on a German study visa can work 120 full days or 240 half days each year alongside their EBS studies. The Frankfurt Rhine-Main region offers roles in banking back-office, consulting research, and hospitality that pay EUR 12 to EUR 15 per hour, and EBS career services shares vacancies with enrolled students during the semester.
Ques. What English test waivers does EBS accept from Indian bachelor graduates?
Ans. EBS accepts three English test waivers for Indian applicants. Applicants who completed their bachelor’s degree entirely in English, applicants who are native English speakers, and applicants with two or more years of full-time work experience in an English-speaking country do not need to submit IELTS or TOEFL. The waiver must be requested at the application stage with supporting proof.
Ques. Does EBS University require an interview for admission?
Ans. Yes, EBS University conducts a mandatory admissions interview for every bachelor, master, MBA, and PhD applicant. The interview runs 30 to 45 minutes on video and covers career goals, programme fit, and reasoning behind the choice of Germany. Indian applicants should prepare examples of leadership and quantitative work, since the interview is a decisive filter in the selection process.
Ques. Which admission tests does EBS accept for the Full-Time MBA?
Ans. EBS accepts five admissions tests for the Full-Time MBA. Applicants can submit the GMAT (classic or Focus edition), the GRE, the Business Admissions Test (BAT), the internal EBSgrad Test, or the Common Admissions Test (CAT). Indian applicants who already hold a valid CAT or GMAT score do not need to sit the internal test, and the university reviews all valid scores equally.
Ques. Are education loans available from Indian banks for EBS University?
Ans. Yes, EBS University is recognised on the German Anabin database at H+ status, which most Indian public and private banks require for education loan approval. Applicants can approach SBI, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Credila, and Avanse for loans covering tuition and living expenses, and the loan sanction is typically issued after the EBS admission letter and blocked-account confirmation are on file.
Ques. What is the duration of the Full-Time MBA programme at EBS?
Ans. The Full-Time MBA at EBS runs 12 months across 2 semesters. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree with 180 ECTS or the Indian equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience. The compact 12-month structure lets Indian graduates return to a full salary quicker than the 21-month European MBA average, and the post-study work visa still applies afterwards.
Ques. Does EBS University offer online or hybrid degree programmes?
Ans. EBS University is a primarily on-campus institution. Bachelor, master, MBA, and doctoral degrees are delivered in person on the Oestrich-Winkel and Wiesbaden campuses, and students must hold a student residence permit in Germany for degree study. Executive education programmes offer limited hybrid delivery, but the full-time degrees for Indian applicants require on-campus attendance from the first semester.
