IU International University of Applied Sciences  Documents Required

IU requires original or officially certified copies of all documents. Documents must be in English or German; other languages need official translation via notary or university. Most Indian educational boards now provide English-medium certificates directly.

Essential Documents Checklist

  • Valid international passport (minimum 6 months validity)
  • Class 12 or bachelor’s degree certificate with English translation
  • Official transcripts/mark sheets with English translation
  • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score report)
  • Curriculum vitae or resume (for master’s and MBA programs)
  • Statement of purpose (optional but recommended)
  • Two professional reference letters (for master’s and MBA)

Document Translation and Attestation: If your board does not issue English certificates, get transcripts translated by a certified translator. German universities accept translations from online certified services like Intellicutz or notarized translations. Original transcripts must be sent directly from your school to IU.

Insider note: Do not translate documents yourself; German institutions reject informal translations. Use certified translators or ask your school to issue English-medium originals directly.

IU International University of Applied Sciences  Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate at IU International University is 72%, making it one of the most accessible universities in Germany for qualified applicants. Admissions are document-based; no entrance exam or interview is required (except a mandatory 15-minute interview for first-time assessment).

What Factors Improve Acceptance Chances?

Strong academics, clear purpose, and early application improve competitive standing. IU prioritizes academic credentials and English proficiency over other factors. Early applicants (by July 31 for October intake) have better program availability even if equally qualified.

Is There a Numerus Clausus at IU?

No. IU’s programs do not have a numerus clausus (admission restriction), meaning qualified applicants are always accepted if seats remain. Acceptance depends on eligibility, not a competitive cutoff. This differs markedly from public German universities with strict quotas.

Key insight: At 72% acceptance, IU is more accessible than top-ranked German public universities (5-15% acceptance) yet maintains accreditation and strong employer recognition.

Studying at Germany’s largest private university, IU offers over 200 English programs, a 72% acceptance rate, and strong Indian alumni networks. Rolling admissions mean no fixed deadlines, yet applying before July 31, 2026 secures better program availability for October intake. Only fully on-campus programs qualify for student visas; confirm Präsenzstudium status during application.
