Berger and IIT Guwahati Collaborate to Introduce Long Lasting Surface Disinfectant; Check Details Here

IIT Guwahati has teamed up with coating major Berger Paints to create an alcohol-free surface disinfectant for fighting off COVID-like viruses and bacteria by staying active on different surfaces for more time duration.

The official statement by IIT Guwahati stated that a group of scientists led by Prof Biman B Mandal, on October 16, 2020, launched the product.

Berger Paints told that alcohol-based surface disinfectants require consumers to sanitize surfaces repeatedly in a day. For this issue, the company collaborated with IIT Guwahati to find a better solution.

Regarding the new product, Prof Mandal said, "is different from normal alcohol-based sanitizer as it stays active for an extended period of hours on the application surface. It forms a protective nano-silver coating which fights off bacteria and virus for a longer duration as validated by standard protocols.”

He added that IIT Guwahati has always worked in designing various projects to help the society and the country to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The product would make everyone’s daily lives safer during these hard times.

The company also informed that BreatheEasy Safe 24 is the brand name under which the product would be available. It will ensure 24-hour protection from different kinds of bacteria and viruses along with coronavirus by a single-use. People can apply it to a large area of hard and soft surfaces.
