Panjab University Grading System and SGPA Calculation
Courses under NEP 2020 report grades, SGPA and CGPA. PU's four-year BFA regulations set out the scale below. Other FYUP courses follow a similar pattern.
| Percentage Marks | Grade Point | Letter Grade |
|---|---|---|
| 95 to 100 | 10 | O (Outstanding) |
| 85 to below 95 | 9 | A+ (Excellent) |
| 75 to below 85 | 8 | A (Very Good) |
| 65 to below 75 | 7 | B+ (Good) |
| 55 to below 65 | 6 | B (Above Average) |
| 45 to below 55 | 5 | C (Average) |
| 40 to below 45 | 4 | P (Pass) |
| Below 40 | 0 | F (Fail) |
How SGPA and CGPA Are Worked Out?
SGPA is the total of credits multiplied by grade points, divided by total credits. CGPA uses the same method across all semesters. Both are rounded to two decimal places.
Example: A student earns 139 credit points across 20 credits. The SGPA is 139 divided by 20, which is 6.95.
How to Apply for Revaluation and Re-checking After the Result?
PU runs re-evaluation fully online. Students apply within 15 days of the result date. No paper form or challan goes to the university.
Steps to Apply
- Open the UG re-evaluation portal or the PG re-evaluation portal.
- Select the session, such as May 2026.
- Choose the class and semester.
- Enter the examination roll number and pick the type, Normal or Deficient.

Re-evaluation Fee 2025-26
The university's 2025-26 fee list sets these charges.
| Fee Head | Amount |
|---|---|
| Form or online processing fee | Rs. 250 |
| Re-evaluation per answer book (UG) | Rs. 790 |
| Re-evaluation per answer book (PG) | Rs. 840 |
| Re-checking per answer book (UG and PG) | Rs. 790 |
Important: Fees paid through payonline.puchd.ac.in are not counted for online re-evaluation. Students pay only on the re-evaluation website.
If marks change, the student submits the old DMC for a revised one. Updated marks appear under the Re-Evaluation Results link.
Panjab University Result Not Showing: Common Reasons
Many students search for a result that is already out. Usually the wrong tab or link is the cause.
- Wrong session tab: 1st, 3rd and 5th semester results sit under December 2025, not April/May 2026.
- Wrong scheme link: FYUP and old-scheme courses have separate links with similar names.
- Result late (RL): students report that RL marks a result held back for later. Fee account issues are a common reason they describe.
- Course not yet declared: the course simply has no link yet. Results keep getting added through October.
Students with an RL status usually contact the college office first. The college takes up pending fee or record issues with the university.
