CAT 2026 Registration Deadline Extended to September 22; Check How to Apply

The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) has extended the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026 registration deadline on the official website at iimcat.ac.in. Candidates can now submit their online applications until September 22, 2026, at 5 PM. The earlier deadline was September 15, 2026.

The extension gives aspirants an additional week to complete their application forms. IIM Indore is the conducting institute for the CAT 2026 cycle. The computer-based examination will be held on November 29, 2026, in three shifts across the country.

The extended timeline changes only the registration deadline. All other announced dates remain unchanged. Candidates should note the revised deadline and complete the application fee payment accordingly.

CAT 2026 Application Fee

Candidates must pay the application fee online through the official portal. The fee is non-refundable and can be paid using net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.

Who Is Eligible to Apply for CAT 2026?

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50 percent marks. The minimum requirement is 45 percent for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Students appearing in the final year of graduation are also eligible to apply.

There is no upper age limit for CAT 2026 and no restriction on the number of attempts. Final-year students may receive provisional admission until they complete their degree requirements.

CAT Registration Extension History

The one-week extension follows a pattern seen in recent CAT cycles. Conducting IIMs have previously provided similar additional windows to accommodate candidates who could not complete their applications before the original deadline.

How to Apply for CAT 2026?

Candidates who have not registered yet should complete the following steps before the revised deadline of September 22, 2026, at 5 PM. Applicants should keep their scanned documents and a valid passport-size photograph ready before starting the application.

1. Visit the official CAT website at iimcat.ac.in.
2. Click on the CAT 2026 new registration link on the homepage.
3. Enter the required personal, academic and work experience details.
4. Upload the necessary documents and passport-size photograph.
5. Select up to five preferred test cities.
6. Pay the application fee online.
7. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

The CAT 2026 examination will be conducted in more than 170 cities and at over 300 test centres across India.

2. Keep your Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets ready for upload.
3. Arrange your graduation transcript or provisional certificate in advance.
4. Have a valid photo ID such as Aadhaar or PAN handy.
5. Complete the fee payment before 5 PM on September 22, 2026.
