DU Launches MA in Hindu Studies Academic Calendar: Classes Begin November 20, 2023

New Delhi: The University of Delhi has announced the academic calendar for the newly initiated M.A. in Hindu Studies, with classes scheduled to commence on November 20, 2023. As part of the celebration, the recently established Centre for Hindu Studies was inaugurated today, marking the beginning of student orientation.

Inaugurating the Centre, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Yogesh Singh, highlighted that the research conducted at the Centre for Hindu Studies should serve as a model for other universities in the country. 

During a Question and Answer Session, Prof. Shri Prakash Singh addressed students' concerns and highlighted “how this Centre is inherently interdisciplinary in nature.”

Dr. Prerna Malhotra contributed to the discussion by outlining the subjects offered at the Centre, including a "Major in Hindu Studies" with minors in Political Science, Computer Science, and Commerce, as well as skill-based subjects such as Manuscriptology and Data Analytics in the first semester.

Furthermore, it was mentioned during the program that the focus would be on teaching the essence of Hindu Dharma and Darshan, along with assisting students in establishing careers in various domains related to their chosen Minor discipline. The aim of the M.A. in Hindu Studies is to provide comprehensive training to students while fostering critical thinking about the essence of Hindu Dharma.
