DU Opens Research Labs for Ph.D. Students in Phased-Manner

Delhi University is all set to open research labs for Ph.D. students in a phased manner. Abiding the Ministry of Health guidelines, only two or three students will be allowed entry in the labs at a time.

The official notice released by the University of Delhi reads, "Registered bonafide senior P.hD. students, whose presence is essential in the research labs, may join the laboratories after obtaining a certificate from respective supervisors and further endorsed by the Department or Director of the center to this effect."

Precautionary Measures to Contain COVID-19 spread

Without compromising the education with health and to minimize the spread of the pandemic, DU will be following the below-mentioned precautions in the research laboratories:

  • Entry of only 2 or 3 students in the lab at a given time
  • Social distancing will be followed 
  • Wearing a mask is mandatory
  • Strict sanitization to be done after each round of working in the lab

Delhi University has also allowed the Ph.D. students to return to the university hostel in a phased manner. These students will have to mandatorily undergo 14 days quarantine period and then will be screened by WUS Health Centre, only then they will be allowed to attend the classes.

DU has also lessened the electricity and water charges by 50% for the hostel students. The Open Book Exam will end by August 31, 2020. Thereafter DU has instructed subject teachers to check the answer sheets digitally
