New Delhi: The Delhi University's Faculty of Mathematical Sciences has suggested the development of an MTech Program in Computer Science under the Department of Computer Science of DU and DM (Doctor of Medicine) in Geriatric Mental Health.
As per Delhi University, the proposal of launching an MTech program in CS and DM program will now be discussed during the Academic Council meeting on November 30, 2023. The MTech program will include "a significant component in project-based learning" with a total of 84 credits.
The MTech program will be offered to students with the aim to provide them skills needed for carrying out research and development by utilising information technologies. It will aim to meet the demands of innovative thinking and problem-solving in the highly competitive IT workplace.

MTech Program in Computer Science
Informing about the proposal, the DU officials shared that students will have a total of six papers in the first semester and five in the second under the MTech program. After this, the last two will be project-oriented. Students need at least 80 credits to be qualified for an MTech degree.
Additionally, participants have the opportunity to choose from a variety of open elective courses such as Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Generative AI and Cryptography among others throughout their program duration.

DM Program in Geriatric Mental Health
In addition to the MTech Program in CS, the Faculty of Medical Sciences has made a proposal to offer a DM (Doctor of Medicine) program in Geriatric Mental Health in the upcoming academic session. This proposal will be discussed during the Delhi University (DU) Academic Council meeting.
The proposed three-year DM Program will be offered by the Department of Psychiatry's Division of Geriatric Mental Health. This program will allow students to work for 26 weeks in various areas of medicine, such as Radiology, Neurology, Cardiology, Clinical Epidemiology and Community Medicine.
