Education Minister Virtually Inaugurates Infrastructure Facilities of IIT Roorkee

The Education Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank inaugurated infrastructure facilities of IIT Roorkee including Lecture Hall Complex, Centralized Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning Plant (HVAC), and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), through online mode on October 12, 2020.

Inauguration of Lecture Hall Complex, IIT Roorkee

The Lecture Hall Complex (LHC) of IIT Roorkee has a built-up area of 13,254 sq.m and the construction started in the year 2016. It took 4 years to complete the construction and the Lecture hall complex has a capacity of 4400 seats.

IIT Roorkee: Inaugurating HVAC System

The Centralized Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning system (HVAC) is the second infrastructure facility and it is provided with a chilled water system including ducting.

It works at the Lecture hall I, II, and Convection Hall. The Building Management System (BMS) could control the project through remote mode which is the highlight of this project.

Sewage Treatment Plant of IIT Roorkee

The Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of IIT Roorkee consists of a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) for the treatment of wastewater. The STP has a built-up area of 1800 sq.m.

Sanjay Dhotre, Union Minister of State for Education, Communication and Electronics and Information Technology, Prof. Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee, Prof. Manoranjan Parida, Deputy Director, IIT Roorkee, Departments/Centres Deans, Associate Deans, Professor In Charge, Registrar, Joint Registrar, Deputy Registrar at IIT Roorkee were virtually presented for the Inauguration Ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony started with a welcome address by Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Prof, Mukul Lal Sharma, Dean Finance & Planning concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks.
