New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) has started a number of projects to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on both its main campus in Kozhikode and satellite campus in Kochi.
IIM Kozhikode Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee stated in a news statement here on July 27, 2023 that the institution had accepted the 3DS guiding principles: Diversity, Digitization, and Disruption. To accomplish the national goals designated under NEP 2020, the 2Is: Innovation and Inclusion have also been adopted.
"NEP's thrust on use of technology, modern teaching pedagogies, and experiential learning is crucial to bridging the disconnect between education and real life of people on the cusp of what we might describe as the new cognitive revolution," he stated. IIM-K has started a PGP in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM) in addition to its flagship postgraduate program (PGP) in Management.
Students can choose from 119 electives in its flagship PGP, which are offered in a range of subjects. The institute has started the admissions process for the 50 extra seats it has created for overseas students starting in the academic year 2022–2023.
For the academic year 2023–2024, it welcomed a total of 12 overseas students to all three of its full-time, regular, residential PGP programmes. The socioeconomically disadvantaged groups are well represented at IIM-K, and they get ongoing support for their academic success through targeted, timely academic interventions and a variety of scholarships that are specifically tailored to their needs.
"For the current admission cycle [2023-24], we have 48% female PhD students, 46% female students for our flagship MBA course, and around 69% of the PGP-LSM cohort is made up of female students. The Committee for Equal Opportunities and Inclusion of Differently Abled Students [EOIDAS] and an office of EOIDAS have been established to care for the welfare and wellness of differently abled students in 2023. We also provide infrastructure and other essential academic support to students with disabilities", Prof. Chatterjee said.
A certificate program in public policy and management known as the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) is provided by the IIM-K in association with the relevant State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs). The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) took the lead in developing the program, and IIM-K is a collaborator on the academic front.
IIM-K had already developed centres of excellence such the Centre of Excellence for Social Innovation, the Centre for Governance, and the Laboratory for Innovation, Venturing, and Entrepreneurship (IIM-K start-up incubator) before the year 2020. Now, it has established new centres, including Uruppika: Centre of Excellence in Macroeconomics, Banking and Finance (CEMBAF), Centre for Employment Relations and Labour Studies, Centre for CLIMATE (Climate Leadership, Internationalisation, Management for Policy Advancement, Technology and Enterprise) Studies, and Centre for Digital Innovation and Transformation (CdiT).
