Mumbai: IIT Bombay has announced that the online classes for first-year UG students will be commencing from November 16, 2020.
All the students, who were attending the online semester classes, have been equipped with all the necessities to attend the online classes.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has released the notification on November 4, 2020. The orientation program for the new batch will be conducted on November 11, 2020.
Dr. Subhasis Chaudhari said through a social media post that the guidelines for the online classes would be shared during the IIT Bombay orientation program.
Mentors have been assigned for orientation and they will reach out to students for commencing the IIT Bombay online semester classes smoothly, he said.
The orientation program for IIT Bombay online semester classes is also designed for parents or guardians to help the children to study from home, Dr. Subhasis said.
The first week of the orientation program will be a Zero week for the students to understand the process of how to attend online lectures and online exams, he said.

Usually the academic year at IIT Bombay runs from August to December and January to June.
The new semester schedule for the UG batch would be from November 2020 to March 2021 and From March 2021 to July 2021.
Institute will follow this new schedule due to COVID 19 pandemic .Also, in an official letter, the Institute has said that it would not provide hostel accommodation due to paucity of available rooms and Covid 19 restrictions.
