IIT Delhi has celebrated the successful completion of its STEM mentorship program by 32 high school girls. A felicitation ceremony, held on November 30, highlighted the dedication and accomplishments of the student participants.

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has celebrated the achievement of 32 high school girls who successfully concluded the second batch of its STEM mentorship program.
The Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives organized a felicitation ceremony on November 30, 2023, to acknowledge the dedication of the student participants for the IIT Delhi STEM mentorship program.
The program's second edition commenced in celebration of the 8th International Day for Women and Girls in Science, unfolding in two phases. The initial stage unfolded during weekends in March and April, offering selected students from Delhi-NCR schools insights into IIT Delhi research facilities.
Subsequently, the second phase featured a week-long STEM workshop in May, where participants received valuable insights from IIT Delhi faculty members and research scholars across diverse academic units, covering emerging areas of study. This phase also provided students with hands-on experience in various laboratories.
Professor Subodh V Sharma, Associate Dean of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives at IIT Delhi, highlighted the significance of the STEM Mentorship Program for high school girls, pointing out the institution's dedication to empowering young female minds in the domains of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
He noted the substantial progress of the program, highlighting the delivery of approximately 20 impressive lectures between 2021 and 2023.
Serena from Modern School expressed her experience with the mentorship program, stating that the STEM Mentorship Program helped him acquire knowledge about various science subjects.
He also gained insights into the functioning and composition of drones. As a science student, it enabled him to explore the realm of science, motivating him to consider core science as a career option.
Another student, Akanksha from Kendriya Vidyalaya, said that during the mentorship program, she learned about how maths, physics, and chemistry can be more interesting than our imagination.
She added saying that she witnessed IIT Delhi students working to develop solutions to daily life problems. She also wished more and more girls would join the science stream and contribute to the country's development.
