IIT JAM 2027 Registration Start Date Revised at jam.iitkgp.ac.in; Check New Schedule

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) has revised the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027 registration schedule on the official website at jam.iitkgp.ac.in. The application portal will now open on September 12, 2026, instead of the earlier announced date of September 5, 2026. The last date to submit the online application remains October 12, 2026.

IIT Kharagpur is the organising institute for JAM 2027. The examination is the gateway to MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-MTech, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, and other post-graduate programmes offered across the IITs. Around 3,000 seats are on offer through the JAM 2027 counselling process.

Candidates must submit their forms through the Joint Admission Test for Masters Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal linked from the official website. The information brochure for JAM 2027 was released on August 31, 2026, and carries the complete rules, eligibility norms, and paper-wise syllabus.

IIT JAM 2027 Revised Important Dates

The revised schedule shifts only the registration opening date. All other milestones announced by IIT Kharagpur remain unchanged as of this update.

Who Is Eligible to Apply for IIT JAM 2027?

The eligibility rules for JAM 2027 remain open to a wide pool of science graduates. IIT Kharagpur has retained the flexible criteria used in earlier cycles.

• Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree or be in the final year of an undergraduate programme.
• There is no minimum percentage requirement to appear for the exam.
• Candidates with backlogs in their qualifying degree are also eligible.
• No upper age limit applies to JAM 2027 aspirants.
• Foreign nationals may apply through the same portal.

Final admission to the participating institutes, however, is subject to the academic eligibility norms of each IIT.

How to Register for IIT JAM 2027?

Candidates should keep scanned copies of their photograph, signature, category certificate, and PwD certificate ready before starting the form. The steps below summarise the process.

1. Visit the official website at jam.iitkgp.ac.in.
2. Click on the JOAPS registration link and create a new account.
3. Log in with the enrolment ID and fill in personal, academic, and paper choice details.
4. Upload the required documents in the prescribed format and size.
5. Pay the application fee online and submit the completed form.
