The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is all set to conduct the first-ever virtual convocation on October 22. Convocation will be streamed live on IIT Kanpur official channel on YouTube.
The 53rd convocation ceremony of IIT Kanpur will start by 4:00 PM on October 22, 2020. Dr Arvind Krishna, Chief Executive Officer, IBM is invited as chief guest for virtual convocation.Dr. Arvind is also an alumnus of the institute.

IIT-K Director, Professor Abhay Karandikar stated “I am delighted to share that the 53rd Convocation of the institute will be held on 22nd Oct 2020 from 4:00 pm onward. We invite all of you to the first-ever virtual convocation of IIT Kanpur.”
Earlier in the month of August, IIT Bombay also conducted its 58th convocation for graduating students in virtual mode. 3D Avatars of respective students and professors were designed. The ceremony received great applause from many government officials and tech company heads.
IIT Kanpur Convocation 2020: Graduating Batch to be felicitated, awarded medals
A total of 2008 students from all courses of UG, PG, and Ph.D. are graduating this year. Among all of them, 100 medals are to be also distributed.
IIT Kanpur administration has facilitated all graduating students with services by post. All students will receive their medals and degrees via post and no students need to visit college premises for collection of the same.
IIT-K Director stated “We don’t want to have gathered on campus during a pandemic. Graduating students may log in to take part in the first-ever virtual conversation.”
Due to the COVID-19, pandemic IIT-Kanpur final year examination for all courses were held online in the month of June.
