Additionally, the recruitment process will consider applicants from 5 engineering streams of chemical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical engineering. Hence, candidates of these aforementioned streams who qualify GATE 2021 will be eligible for application.
Note: GATE 2020 scores are not valid for this job vacancy.
As the recruitment is based on GATE 2021,candidates have to apply separately for GATE 2021 exam and IOCL recruitment. This year about 8,82,684 students registered for GATE 2021 which is higher than 2019 as of 8.59 L registrations.
GATE is held every year for admission to MTech and PhD programs in IITs, IISc and to apply for PSU jobs.
PSU recruitment through GATE increasing Vacancies in MTech Admission every year
As per recent reports, IITs claim 15-20% seats remain vacant in MTech courses every year as GATE scores lead to recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
In view of this shortcoming, back in 2017 IIT Madras framed the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) to create a common recruitment platform for Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) and IITs, IISc.
Despite the COAP being in place, only a few PSUs like Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) take part in the process.
