JNU: M.Phil and PhD Programmes in the Same Field to Have Single Entrance Exams

Jawaharlal Nehru University has announced that it will be conducting a single entrance examination for admission into M.Phil and PhD programmes in the same field of study.

The examination for JNU will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on the same date and time as per the schedule of examination for both the courses. 

Following which, candidates applying for the M.phil and PhD programmes in the same field will have to appear for a single entrance examination.

As per the notification released by NTA, “there will be a common or single question paper for the M.Phil and PhD programme in the same field of study.” 

Furthermore, In case a candidate wishes to apply for both the programmes in the same field, they can apply for both and appear for only one entrance test and attempt the relevant question paper.

The marks which the candidate will obtain in the entrance examination will be considered for admission into both the programmes.

However, this will be only applicable to candidates who have opted for both M.Phil and PhD programmes.
