JNU to accept digital submission of M.Phil & M.Tech dissertations and Ph.D theses

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi on Thursday approved a proposal for allowing M.Phil, M.Tech dissertations and PhD theses to be submitted digitally. 

Professor Chintamani Mahapatra, Rector-I of JNU stated that the proposal had been given approval at the 286th Executive Council meeting of the varsity.

This process of digital submission is a novel process exclusive so far to JNU since it’s the first university to introduce this mode of submission. This mode of submission will allow for a very flexible and convenient method of dissertations and these without any hassle. The online theses tracking system of JNU has already been put in place. 

The Academic Council of JNU had even given its approval for conducting viva voce examinations prior to the Covid-19 pandemic to award research degrees to students.

The statement also pointed out that so far over 150 viva voce tests for doctoral degrees have taken place through online mode. 

In order to submit theses and dissertations, students are required to first submit the “No Dues Clearance” form. The clearance will be circulated for verification by the concerned school or center instead of the student having to physically visit them.  

A digital inspection of all required factors including plagiarism check, fee payment, and other necessary evaluations will be made, according to the statement.  

Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, The Vice-Chancellor of JNU stated that the university has facilitated various formalities and procedures to be carried out smoothly by switching to a digital method over a period of four years.
