The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the JoSAA 2026 Round 5 opening and closing ranks on the official website at josaa.nic.in. The cutoffs were published on July 16, 2026, alongside the Round 5 seat allotment result. Candidates who took part in Round 5 can now view the category-wise closing ranks for every participating institute.
The opening and closing ranks cover all 138 participating institutes in this cycle. These include 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and 56 Other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). The direct link to the cutoffs is hosted on the JoSAA applicant portal.
Opening and closing ranks for open seats reflect the Common Rank List (CRL). Ranks shown for EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST seats represent the respective category ranks. A suffix "P" against any rank indicates that the value comes from the Preparatory Rank List.

What Happens After the Round 5 Allotment?
Round 5 is one of the later rounds in the JoSAA counselling cycle. Candidates allotted a seat must complete online reporting within the notified window. This step includes fee payment, document upload, and response to the allotted seat.
Candidates have three response options during reporting. They can accept the seat and freeze it, accept and float for a better option, or accept and slide within the same institute. Each choice affects the next round of allotment.
What Are the Seat Acceptance and Withdrawal Charges?
Candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) to confirm their allotted seat. The fee amount depends on the candidate category. The table below lists the current fee structure.
| Category | Seat Acceptance Fee |
|---|---|
| General, OBC-NCL, EWS | Rs 30,000 |
| SC, ST, PwD | Rs 15,000 |
A processing charge of Rs 5,000 is non-refundable under all conditions. Candidates who choose voluntary withdrawal before the final round face an additional deduction as per JoSAA rules. The refund is credited to the same account used for SAF payment.
Round 5 cutoffs are the second-last set of ranks in the JoSAA cycle. They give a near-final picture of admission trends this year. Candidates use these numbers to plan floating or sliding choices for the final round.
