Karnataka Colleges to Reopen from November 17; Schools Reopening Date To Be Announced Later

Karnataka Government has announced to reopen the Karnataka colleges and universities from November 17, 2020. 

The state government is experiencing a few obstacles in its plan to reopen Karnataka schools.

The decision on reopening Karnataka schools will be announced later after convening meetings with officials on November 4, 2020.

The meeting with officials was earlier scheduled to be held on November 2, 2020. But because of some technical glitches, the meeting was canceled and has been postponed to November 4.

S. Suresh Kumar, Primary and Secondary Education Minister stated that they are following the Andhra Government's model of opening schools in a phased manner.

Everything will be examined before taking any decision because it involves the lives of several students, he stated.

After the Andhra Pradesh Government decided to reopen schools after November 1, 2020, the Karnataka government has decided to deliberate the new model with officials for three days before announcing the final Karnataka schools reopening date.

Suresh Kumar stated that since the state was witnessing fewer rates of COVID 19 cases recently, the government has decided to reopen Karnataka colleges from November 17, 2020.

Experts have also stated that it would be better if schools were opened in a phased manner. Hence the government is giving fresh thought to reopen schools because not every student could afford online education.

Before the reopening of schools, the government will gather information on various fronts other than the Health condition of students and teachers.

Experts have also stated that it would create a negative impact on the minds of students if the Karnataka schools remained closed for a longer period of time.

All such things are being observed and examined before the reopening of schools in Karnataka, Suresh informed.
