What Is New in NEET UG Counselling 2026?

The MCC has introduced several reforms in this year's process. These changes affect how candidates handle allotted seats and how NRI applicants submit documents.

  • Freeze option: Lock the allotted seat and skip further upgrades.
  • Float option: Retain the current seat while attempting an upgrade in the next round.
  • Online resignation: Candidates can resign from an allotted seat through the portal.
  • NRI document upload: All NRI quota documents are now uploaded digitally on the MCC portal.
Why This Matters

This is the first NEET UG cycle where NRI candidates submit all documents online. The shift removes the need for in-person verification during the initial rounds. It also speeds up allotment for overseas applicants.

Action Plan for Candidates

  • Visit mcc.nic.in and start your registration before August 12.
  • Keep your NEET UG 2026 scorecard, Class 10 and 12 certificates and category proof ready.
  • Arrange the registration fee and security deposit for online payment.
  • Read the Candidate User Guide available on the MCC portal.
  • Fill and lock your college and course choices by August 13, 11 AM.
  • Track the seat allotment result on August 17 and report to the allotted college by August 22.
