Programmes Offered Through NIFT 2027
NIFT offers a mix of design and technology programmes. The following courses are open through NIFTEE 2027:
- Undergraduate: Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech)
- Postgraduate: Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Fashion Technology (M.FTech) and Master of Fashion Management (MFM)
- Doctoral: PhD programmes in design, technology and management
- Other: NIFT Lateral Entry Admissions (NLEA) and the Artisans programme
NIFT 2027 Exam Pattern
The Stage 1 written test is a computer-based examination. It evaluates candidates on creativity, aptitude and general knowledge. The Creative Ability Test (CAT) tests observation, design illustration and visual sense. The General Ability Test (GAT) covers quantitative ability and English. It also includes analytical reasoning and current affairs. The two sections together form the shortlisting score for Stage 2.
The B.Des and M.Des candidates must appear for both CAT and GAT. The B.FTech candidates attempt only the GAT paper. Weightage of each section varies by programme.
What Happens in Stage 2?
Shortlisted candidates for B.Des and M.Des appear for a Situation Test. The Situation Test checks hands-on material handling and model making. B.FTech, M.FTech and MFM candidates face a Group Discussion. They also appear for a Personal Interview. The final merit list combines Stage 1 and Stage 2 scores.
Admission is then offered based on the merit list and seat availability. Candidates can select preferred campuses and programmes during counselling. The counselling process also handles seat allotment, reservations and fee payment.
How to Apply for NIFT 2027?
The NIFT 2027 application process is fully online. Candidates must first register with a valid email ID and mobile number. They then fill in personal, academic and category details. Scanned documents such as photograph, signature and certificates are uploaded next. Fee payment and final submission complete the process.
Candidates can choose up to two programmes in one application. They can also pick their preferred test city from the available list. The system allows editing only within a correction window. NTA announces this window later on its portal.
