Private MBBS fees are not always above INR 50 lakh. In Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, students who secure a government quota seat in a private medical college can keep their tuition fees below INR 10 lakh for the 4.5-year academic period.
The same college may charge more than INR 10 lakh per year for a management quota seat. Therefore, the quota name is more important than the college name while comparing MBBS fees.

Private Medical Colleges With MBBS Fees Below INR 10 Lakh
| State | Seat category | Annual tuition fees | Tuition fees for 4.5 years | Counselling authority |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Andhra Pradesh | Category A | INR 16,500 | INR 74,250 | Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences |
| Telangana | Category A | INR 60,000 | INR 2.70 lakh | KNR University of Health Sciences |

The figures above cover tuition fees. Hostel fees, mess fees, deposits and other college fees may be charged separately.
The fee year also needs attention. Karnataka’s table is based on the 2024–25 KEA fee structure, Telangana’s fee applies to the 2023–26 block, and Andhra Pradesh has carried the INR 16,500 Category A fee in its 2025–26 counselling prospectus. Any new state order will apply to students joining in 2026–27.

Which State Has the Most Low-Fee Private Medical College Options?
Karnataka has the widest choice of private medical colleges with government quota tuition fees below INR 10 lakh. The state has several private colleges and private universities offering G seats through KEA.
Telangana has lower Category A fees, but the seat is available only through the state counselling process and the applicable state eligibility rules.
Andhra Pradesh has the lowest Category A tuition fee among the three states. However, local area, state quota and minority rules affect which seats a student can claim.
| State | Main advantage | Point to check |
|---|---|---|
| Karnataka | Large number of private medical colleges with G seats | KEA eligibility and revised 2026 fees |
| Telangana | Category A fees remain very low | State eligibility and new fee block |
| Andhra Pradesh | Lowest Category A tuition fees | Local area and minority seat rules |
Fees That Are Not Included in the INR 10 Lakh Limit
The figures in this article cover tuition fees. A student may have to pay the following separately:
- Hostel fees
- Mess fees
- Caution or security deposit
- Examination fees
- Library and laboratory fees
- University fees not included in the state fee
- Transport fees
- Books, instruments and uniform fees
Karnataka’s government quota amount includes university registration fees. This does not mean that hostel and mess fees are included.
Why the Same College May Show Different MBBS Fees
A private medical college can have several seat categories at the same time.
For example, an Andhra Pradesh private medical college may charge:
| Seat category | Annual tuition fees |
| Category A | INR 16,500 |
| Category B | INR 13.20 lakh |
| Category C or NRI | INR 39.60 lakh |
Similarly, a Karnataka private medical college may charge around INR 1.54 lakh for a government seat and more than INR 12 lakh for a private seat.
This is why students should not search only for the college name and fees. The exact seat category shown in the allotment is equally important.
Points to Check Before Adding a College
Before adding a low-fee private medical college to the choice list, check:
- Whether the seat is marked Category A, Government or G.
- Whether the student meets the state eligibility rules.
- Whether the college is a minority institution.
- Whether the fee shown is annual or for the complete course.
- Whether hostel stay is compulsory.
- Whether the 2026–27 fee has changed.
- How much must be paid while reporting to the college.
