Punjab government has permitted schools and coaching institutes to reopen after October 15, 2020, for classes 11 and 12 in phases. All the students willing to attend classes should have written consent letters from their parents. Only then, students will be allowed to attend the classes, the guidelines issued by the Government added.

The guideline has been issued for all the activities in the areas outside the containment zone and it clearly stated that online and distance learning will be the preferred mode of teaching and will be continued.

Punjab Issues Reopening Guidelines for School and Coaching Institutes 

The guideline also stated that parents' consent is mandatory for all the students of class 11 & 12 to attend the school or coaching institute and attendance shouldn’t be made compulsory.

The schools that are opened after October 15, 2020, should follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) which will be issued by the department of school education after consulting the department of health and family welfare.

Higher education institutions like state universities and private universities will be permitted to open after October 15, 2020, only for research scholars and PG students of science stream who require the laboratory or practical work.

The centrally funded higher education institutes will be permitted to open if the head of the institutions satisfies themselves that there is a genuine requirement of research scholars and PG students to use the laboratory.

Punjab government has also permitted the opening of the swimming pool for the use of sportsperson as per the (SOP) issued by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

According to (SOP) issued by the Union Ministry of Commerce, Business to Business (B2B) has also been permitted to open after October 15, 2020.

The areas outside the containment zone were allowed to have social, academic, sports, cultural, religious, and political functions, weddings, and funerals beyond the limit of 100 persons after October 15, 2020.

The government also mentioned that gathering purely for entertainment purposes will not be allowed to exceed 100 persons. It also stated that everyone should follow the general safety precautions such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

Thermal scanning should be provided and use of hand wash and hand sanitizer should be made mandatory, the government stated.
