SPPU Extends Exam Time due to Server Crashdown; Check Details
Due to several complaints received from students and after the server crashed on Monday, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) decided to extend the examination time.
This year, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is conducting examinations through both online and offline mode.
When the students tried to log in to the university's portal at the same time to take tests, the server crashed on October 19.
To prevent a large number of students logging in at the same time which will slow down the University server, SPPU has allowed the students to login for the examinations till 11 p.m.
Even after the extension of exam timings, the server crashed on Tuesday. The SPPU exams are scheduled at 10 am, 1pm and 3 pm.
Usually the examination link remains active for an hour after being started. But now the university has made the link to be activated until 11 pm.
The university stated that if the students were facing any login issues, they could try logging in some time later.
The director of the examination department at SPPU, Mahesh Kakade stated that almost 2.5 lakh students are appearing for the examination, out of which 2 lakh students have opted for the online mode of examination.
The rest fewer students are taking the examination in offline mode.
Recently the university has also provided an opportunity to students who opted for offline exams to appear for online examinations.
Kakade added that in case if the server crashed again because of several logins, students could pursue the examination later that day.
The question will be shuffled and will not be shared with students to avoid malpractice. The engineering students appeared for the product design exam on Tuesday.
They mentioned that the exam didn't begin even after 1 pm. One of the students stated that they experienced difficulties while logging in and then received a message from University that the exam will begin at 3 pm.
