Recently an agriculture university in Nasik promoted students with mark sheets tagged as 'COVID-promoted'. To avoid such a situation, SPPU students have requested varsity not to mention this in their mark sheets.

The Savitribai Phule Pune University students have been promoted on the basis of internal assessment and previous semester results. Hence, the students believe that they have worked for their scores and are not blindly promoted by the varsity.

A first-year history student, Tushar said, "The mark sheet is a lifetime thing and 'COVID-promoted' will give a negative vibe. Also, in order to pursue further education like Ph.D., mark sheets are to be submitted. Therefore, SPPU should not mention such words in the result card."

Another student added that 'COVID-promoted' written on mark sheets will bear a negative connotation, due to which the university has been asked to avoid mentioning it.

In response to students' concerns, SPPU Head of Examination department Mahesh Kakade said, "Results have been announced for 21 different first-year PG courses. The students who couldn't complete the entire process will be promoted, however, the result declaration will take some time."

The University assures students that 'COVID-promoted' will not be mentioned in the result sheets.
