Tamil Nadu Govt. to Conduct Arrear Exams For Final Year Students, No Exam for Other Students

The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday announced that it has cancelled arrear exams for all college students except final year students.

The decision was made by the state government after conducting a review meeting with the vice-chancellor/director of different colleges/universities in the state.

In a statement released by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, it was written that based on the demand from students and an expert panel recommendation, all students except final year students who have paid fees for arrears papers are exempted from writing the exams. 

“The marks for these exams will be awarded based on the guidelines given by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE),” said the statement.

Apart from the students appearing for the terminal examination, the state government has already promoted all students pursuing BA, BSc, MA, MSc, BE/B Tech/B Arch, ME/M Tech, MCA and diploma courses to the next academic year.

The students promoted were awarded marks with a break up of 70% and 30% for internal marks and previous semester exams respectively.

As per sources, the state higher education department is also expected to issue a separate order on criteria for awarding marks for those with arrears soon.
