The Directorate of Technical Education Tamil Nadu (DoTE) has released the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 provisional allotment for special reservation categories on the official portal at tneaonline.org. Shortlisted candidates can log in with their application number and view the allotted seat.

The allotment covers three special reservation streams. These are Differently Abled (DA), Ex-Servicemen, and Eminent Sports Persons. Counselling for these categories was held on July 13 and 14, 2026.

Special reservation counselling always runs before the general counselling round. Any seats left unfilled from these quotas will move into the general pool. General counselling for the wider merit list starts on July 20, 2026.

How to Confirm the Allotted Seat?

Candidates must respond to the allotment through one of six options. These options range from accepting the seat to seeking upgradation later. Each option carries a different meaning for the next counselling stage.

After accepting the seat online, candidates must report in person. This can be at the allotted college or the nearest Tamil Nadu Facilitation Centre (TFC). Reporting must be done within five days from the allotment date.

Failure to confirm within the deadline will cancel the allotment automatically. The seat will then move to the next counselling round.

What Documents Should Candidates Carry?

Candidates must carry originals along with two sets of photocopies. The core documents include:

  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates.
  • TNEA 2026 application printout and rank card.
  • Community, nativity, and transfer certificates.
  • Category proof for the special reservation claimed.
  • Passport-size photographs and an ID proof.

Differently Abled candidates must carry a medical certificate. It must be issued by a board of three doctors. Sports quota applicants must submit all achievement certificates in original.

What Happens After the Special Reservation Round?

Seats not filled under special reservation categories return to the common pool. These vacancies are then offered during general counselling. General counselling begins on July 20, 2026, and runs through August.

Why This Matters

Special reservation rounds close before general counselling begins. Missing the confirmation window means losing quota benefits. Candidates then compete only through the wider general merit pool.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Log in at tneaonline.org and download the provisional allotment order.
  2. Pick one of the six response options inside the given window.
  3. Keep original certificates, community proof, and category proof ready for reporting.
  4. Report to the allotted college or nearest TFC within five days.
  5. Pay the initial fee and collect the joining slip on the spot.
Keep an Eye On

General counselling and choice filling for the TNEA 2026 merit list starts on July 20, 2026. Track tneaonline.org for round-wise allotment updates.
