TNEA 2026 Provisional Allotment for Government School Quota Released; Special Reservation Choice Filling Begins

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) has released the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 provisional allotment. It covers candidates under the 7.5 percent Government School quota. The allotment order is available at tneaonline.org.

The provisional list was published at 7:00 AM on July 15, 2026. It follows the tentative allotment released on July 14 for the same category. Allotted candidates must now download the order and prepare for institutional reporting.

On the same day, choice filling has opened for Special Reservation candidates. This applies to Academic and Vocational streams under other reserved categories. The two-day window runs from July 15 to July 16, 2026.

Choice filling is open daily between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM. General counselling for the remaining candidates is scheduled to begin on July 20, 2026.

Who Is Eligible for the 7.5 Percent Government School Quota?

The 7.5 percent horizontal reservation is meant for Tamil Nadu state board students. Applicants must have studied from Class 6 to Class 12 in a government school. The quota is applied across all engineering programmes offered under TNEA.

Over 50,000 candidates applied under this quota in the current admission cycle. Seats are carved out within the same overall reservation matrix used for state admissions. The quota runs before general counselling to secure access for eligible students.

How to Download the TNEA 2026 Provisional Allotment Order?

Allotted candidates can follow the steps below to access the order.

• Visit the official TNEA portal at tneaonline.org.
• Click on the candidate login option on the homepage.
• Enter your application number and password to sign in.
• Open the Provisional Allotment Order tab on the dashboard.
• Download the order and print two copies for reporting.

How to Fill Choices for Special Reservation Counselling?

The choice filling round for Special Reservation candidates opens today. Preferences must be locked before the deadline on July 16.

• Log in to the TNEA portal during the choice filling window.
• Open the choice filling section and view eligible college options.
• Arrange colleges and branches in the order of your preference.
• Save each screen before moving to the next set.
• Lock the final list before 7:00 PM on July 16.

What Options Do Allotted Candidates Have?

After receiving the provisional allotment, candidates can choose one of three options. Each response decides further participation in the counselling process.

• Accept and Join: Confirms the seat and closes counselling participation.
• Accept and Upward: Holds the current seat while allowing upgrades in later rounds.
• Decline and Upward: Rejects the current seat but keeps eligibility for the next rounds.

What Documents Are Required at Reporting?

Candidates must carry the following originals along with two photocopies each.

• Provisional Allotment Order downloaded from the TNEA portal.
• Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets issued by the state board.
• Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate from the last school attended.
• Community, Nativity and Income certificates as applicable.
• Aadhaar card and recent passport size photographs.

• Verify the college name, branch and fee structure listed on the order.
• Choose one of the three response options before the confirmation deadline.
