Why the Locking Order Matters

TNEA allotment follows strict rank and preference order. The system checks each candidate's list from top to bottom. The highest ranked available choice on your list is what you will be allotted. A poorly ordered list can push you to a lower preference even at a good rank.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Log in to tneaonline.org and confirm your rank falls within 1 to 37976.
  2. List target colleges and branches on paper before opening the portal.
  3. Place your most preferred college and branch combination at rank 1.
  4. Add safe backup options in the middle and lower half of the list.
  5. Lock the choices well before the July 22 cut-off to avoid server load.
  6. Download and save the locked choice slip for your records.
Keep an Eye On
