The Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Sikkim Government have reopened the state schools from today, October 19. As per the Unlock 5.0 guidelines, students from classes 9 to 12 can visit the school but there will be no forceful imposition of attending the offline classes.
The schools will continue both online and offline classes for the students' comfort. However, it is mandatory to carry a written consent from parents in order to attend the offline classes at the school premises.

Safety Guidelines to be Abided
The offline classes are now operational in UP, Punjab and Sikkim. But the state schools have to be very careful while taking the offline classes, to minimize the COVID-19 spread. As per the guidelines released by the health ministry, some of the mandatory precautionary measures are listed below:
- Wearing a face mask is compulsory for both students and school staff
- Only 50% students will be called per day and the remaining 50% on the next day.
- Students have to wear full sleeves shirts or T-shirts, full pants, shoes with socks.
- Any student or school staff with COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter the school.
- Strict social distancing to be followed.
- Regular sanitization and cleaning to be done in all the school premises, along with canteen, labs and stationary.

The UP Government has released the schedule for offline classes. The classes will be conducted on a shift basis with 50% of students in each class. As per the schedule, classes will be held in two shifts. Check the table below:

In Punjab, schools will open in areas that fall outside the containment zones. The schools will be operating for 3 hours only for classes 9 to 12.
