Uttarakhand Education Department Calls for Preparation to Reopen Schools from 21 September

The education department of Uttarakhand has issued orders to all district education officers to start the preparations for reopening schools in the state from 21 September. The concerned officials have been instructed to completely sanitize the school premises and arrange masks for students.

Mukul Kumar Sati, the additional state project director of Samagra Sikhsha Abhiyan said that all the district education officers have been instructed to obtain the permission of the district magistrates before reopening the schools in the respective areas. After schools reopen, only 50 percent of the staff will be allowed to work at a time.

Releasing the Standard Operating Procedures for Unlock 4.0 on 2 September, the government of Uttarakhand has allowed students of classes 9-12 to go to schools on a voluntary basis for guidance from teachers, with the consent of their parents.

Schools, colleges and other educational institutes will remain closed until 30 September. However, districts may permit up to 50 percent of teaching and non-teaching staff to be summoned to schools.

Online classes and classes through television and radio will continue to take place for all classes, especially classes 9 to 12. This will continue even after schools physically open.
