AIIMS is an exceptionally good medical college often called the Harvard of the East. Only when you join it will you realize the plethora of opportunities it has to offer and how it stands apart from other colleges. Given below are some unique traits of AIIMS that set it apart from CMC Ludhiana specifically and any medical college in general

  • Peers: The quality of peer groups is unmatched as you will be surrounded by some of the most intellectual people in the world. The level of group discussions is unexceptionally high and it seems everyone is motivating each other
  • Faculty : Studying here gives you the opportunity to interact with some of the highest qualified and experienced professors. You will find authors of international books, leaders in research in their fields, and advisors to international committees.
  • Mindset : Everyone at AIIMS joins with a single goal and mindset, to excel. You know getting selected here means you are one of the best and so you have no choice but to get even better.
  • Patients : The patient flow is diverse from textbook cases to rare diseases. The OPS receives almost 10,000 patients every day.
  • Funds : AIIMS has an annual grant of around INR 1200 crore resulting in top-notch infrastructure and research opportunities for the students.
  • Research : AIIMS is the best college if you want to pursue research as a UG student. The faculty is extremely helpful and the huge funding paves the way to a healthy research culture.
  • International collaborations: Alumni can be seen working across the globe in top international universities. This may help in research electives and USMLE prospects.
  • Student faculty ratio : AIIMS easily surpasses the required student-faculty ratio guidelines.
  • Extracurriculars: AIIMS focuses on the holistic development of students and not just on academics. It organizes Pulse, the largest fest in a medical college in all of Southeast Asia. Additionally, it has excellent sports facilities.

There are many things AIIMS excels at putting other medical colleges behind itself.

It is absolutely possible to change your for the second and third year for some branch. It is possible for the 4th year too for non-autonomous colleges. The process is discussed below.

  • Approach both colleges (the one you are currently in and the one you want to go to) registrars/clerical heads.
  • If the college you want to go to has a vacancy you can change.
  • You will need to get N.O.C from both colleges.
  • You also need to go to the VTU campus, Belagavi with N.O.C, handwritten letter, and 2500 INR DD addressing the registrar. Collect your N.O.C.
  • Take all your N.O.C to the college you want to attend and they will provide you with further details on the admission procedure.

Note that you will need to do all these within 15 days from the result announcement date.

Why do you regret joining NIT Durgapur?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 6th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

I don’t think many people regret joining NIT Durgapur. In fact, one of my friends who was earlier doubtful about the institute said that choosing NIT Durgapur was one of the best decisions of his life.

The institute does have some cons such as average mess food and poor quality of hostels, however, the condition is similar in almost all engineering colleges. Over the past few years, it has been working hard to improve its infrastructure and many new and modern hostels are coming up. There are decent options for eating near the campus. Additionally, a new assembly hall is also under construction.

The faculty pool like any other engineering college comprises both highly and low qualified professors. You can develop a good rapport with them and trust me they will guide you in making big choices.

The academic environment is improving for the better and so are the placements. NIT Durgapur also has a tie-up with CERN, Geneva and with the Department of Atomic Energy for the world's first Helium gas exploration plant coming up at Bakreswar. Subir Chowdhury, the present CEO and MD of JCB India, is also an alumni of this college

Considering all the above facts, I don’t think you can regret joining the institute.

What is the hostel of NIT Trichy like?

AD
Arushi Debnath Posted On : May 3rd, 2021
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2021)

For fresher B.Tech boys, there are four hostels at NIT Trichy. These are- Agate, Jade, Diamond and Coral. The rooms at these hostels are three/four seater, and have enough space to accommodate the furniture of each occupant. All of these hostels have decent wifi facilities.

Each one of them has its own pros and cons. Agate gets good wifi speed, and is comparatively close to most academic buildings. Jade is the farthest from every college building, but it has its own cricket ground on the backside. Moreover, its rooms are well ventilated. Jade experiences a water cut once every two months, and every hostel experiences a 15 minute power cut once a month.

The fresher hostels at NIT Trichy are decent and liveable.

What's the secret to cracking the IPM entrance at IIM Indore??

DD
Divya Dhargawe Posted On : December 24th, 2021
IPM from Indian Institute of Management Indore (2022)

According to some of my friends studying at IIM Indore it is your hard work and skills that would be your best companion in cracking the IPM entrance at IIM Indore.

There are a few stages in cracking IPM entrance. They are as follows:

IPMAT

  • For cracking this stage you would require to have a decent knowledge of your 11th and 12th mathematical topics.
  • Topics such as sets, functions, probability, permutations and combinations, algebra, coordinate geometry, areas and volumes, matrices would be necessary.
  • For solving these topics in the quantitative section, you would be assigned limited time.
  • The questions are usually tough.
  • A total of 60 questions would be provided for you to solve in 75 minutes.
  • However, the cutoff is 40 marks.
  • To score well, it is advisable that you sort the logical reasoning questions beforehand to have enough time in your hand to solve other mathematical questions.
  • Begin with solving simpler mathematical questions.
  • Next is the verbal section. This section consists of a medium level of vocabulary questions and passage-solving questions.
  • If you are fluent in English then this section would be easy. It is advisable to read English newspapers on a daily basis.

WAT and the Interview

  • These take place simultaneously.
  • WAT is conducted to assess the candidate’s level of English proficiency.
  • It is an essay writing question.
  • You need to keep up with the recent events to have an upper hand in WAT.
  • The Interview is a little complicated.
  • The questions are usually asked from your core subjects.
  • Questions related to current events and related to politics are also asked in the interview.

Do not hesitate while answering and confidently answer the questions asked and you would be able to crack the exam easily.

Nirma University is a brand in itselOne of my friends studied at Nirma University and as per him, the college is very good in terms of its discipline, infrastructural facilities, placement opportunities, academics, etc. The parents do like the college and its campus. But from the student’s perspective, there are certain things which there are some things about it you might not like.

  • You will not be allowed to participate in the extracurricular activities if you participate then you might lose attendance.
  • They also have a dress code policy.
  • They have jammers installed on the campus because of which you cannot use mobile phones due to lack of internet.
  • They do have a policy of 85% attendance.
  • But this entire strict environment has been developed so that you can work in corporate culture and handle stress. It will be easier for you to adapt to such a work culture.
