What is your advice for a fresher at NIT Jalandhar?
There are a few things you should attend to: Although academics is not the only aspect of your life there, it is the most significant. Maintain a CGPA of at least 7.39 (or 70%). Try to make it to at least most of the lectures. The consequences of skipping practical exams are severe. One night of study the night before the test won't always be helpful. Although they may make you a hard worker, they cannot discipline you. Even though engineering is a difficult subject to master, it is not insurmountable. You can easily pass it if you consistently study.
There are many things you should enjoy. The college's lifeblood is its LIBRARY. This place has a lot to offer. Read consistently. There are countless books you'll like that aren't academic. The practice of getting the book issued will instill in you the values of punctuality and empathy.
TECH FEST & CULTURAL FEST are not just for entertainment; they are also for participation and creation. You ought to take an active part. Events take place throughout the day, and gaming occurs at night (Tech Fest). You should unquestionably join organizations and societies like LADS, SAE, MADS, Fine Arts, etc. This college places a strong emphasis on athletics. You have a sizable field, lovely basketball and volleyball courts, a running track, The Gymnasium, and The Gym for bodybuilding. Except for Mega Boys Hostel, every hostel has its own badminton court and TT hall.
One of the key things that students look for is placements. Get ready for it right away. Develop your interactive abilities right away. Students often lament their lack of English proficiency despite coming from a Hindi-medium school. Your B. Tech. life's second and third years will lay the groundwork for the placements. You must therefore have clear concepts. After the first year is over, set a clear objective. You make the decision at this time as to whether you want to pursue private employment or government employment. Start your GATE, IES, or IAS preparation in the second semester because this is when the exam syllabus is covered.
Are there lot of restrictions for girls in KIIT Bhubneswar hostel?
The hostel rules imposed on girls at KIIT University are very illogical and unreasonable. The first and foremost rule is the check-in at 7 p.m. Girls are prohibited from even roaming around.
- One of my friends narrated an incident wherein she wanted to go out for a movie and she falsely filled in the details as her place of visit being Big Bazar. The warden denied permission saying it was too far.
- Another incident was when she wanted to go out with her friends in the afternoon to attend a function but the warden denied permission.
- Another issue she faced was when she received mail from her home, the address of which has changed, the authorities refused to accept the Mail and verified little details like the ticket number and its timings.
- Another illogical incident took place when she had to approach many people just to get her application signed for attending a class outside the campus.
- The hostel authorities even crib if the students come 15 minutes late from the coaching.
- Parents are not allowed inside the hostel after 6 pm.
- The girls cannot even laugh or speak loudly at night and everything they are visiting the mess they have to cover their bodies.
These were some incidents of illogical restrictions imposed on the girls that stem from a huge communication gap between the college and the hostel authorities. I hope KIIT stops gender discrimination and makes more logical and flexible rules.
Which one is better for a BTech (CSE): Lovely Professional University or Galgotias University?
I did my BTech CSE from Galgotias University, but I will put forth an unbiased opinion.
Here are some factors to compare the two universities-
LPU has good facilities and infrastructure, but I would suggest you opt for Galgotias since it will offer you better opportunities and academics.
- Fees-
- The tuition fee for B.Tech CSE at Galgotias is INR 1.54 lakh per annum. The exam fee is INR 15,000 per annum.
- At LPU, the BTech CSE course fee is INR 1.40 lakh per semester. The exam fee is INR 4,500 per semester. But LPU offers various scholarships to meritorious students. You can visit- https://www.lpu.in/programmes/engineering/b-tech-computer-science for more details.
- Education- The faculty and curriculum of GU are better. Getting decent grades is also comparatively easier at Galgotias.
- Management- LPU has over 10,000+ students in total, which is why it’s difficult for the college management to cater to the needs of each and everyone. The management at GU handles student problems more effectively.
- Campus- LPU has a bigger and better campus as compared to Galgotias.
What does it feel like to fail in a course at IIT Kanpur?
I know a friend who failed a first-semester course at IIT Kanpur. Although it was a minor subject, the entire process was very tiresome.
He had failed a wonderful Morning Exercise (PE101) course. This course is a very futile course wherein twice a week you are supposed to go for sports for an hour in the evening. The ones who are good at sports are selected for the institute sports team, while the rest are sent to NCC.
The worst part about this course is that although it carries no credits, you fail the course if you have less than 75% attendance. Many top rankers had to stay after graduation to complete the course.
My friends had taken leave to represent India at IOI 2007. She failed to maintain the attendance criteria and eventually failed in the course. It discouraged her a lot and she was worried about losing her KVPY scholarship.
She decided to resolve this issue and approached the dean of student affairs (DOSA), who was also the official instructor for this course. Prof. Prawal Sinha assured her that he will be resolving the issue for her. The procedure was indeed troublesome and she had to run from office to office for months. She even wrote to the directors and key meeting DOSA.
Finally, her efforts were fruitful and she managed to change her grades. She was relieved but the entire process tired her out.
Which one is better: IIT Delhi or IIT Roorkee?
If I leave my biases towards Delhi as a city aside. I would choose IIT Roorkee over IITD.
Here are some reasons in support of my decision:-
- Top 5 IITs are more or less equal in every aspect. Placements are also almost the same for equivalent branches.
- IIT Roorkee is ranked 5th in the NIRF ranking while IIT Delhi is Ranked 2nd.
- IIT Roorkee has better infrastructure compared to IIT Delhi.
- The campus size of IIT Roorkee is 358.5 acres compared to IIT Delhi's 325 acres.
- IIT Roorkee has a strong alumni base due to its 177-year history.
- IIT Roorkee has a Median Package of 20 LPA with IIT Delhi at 20.5 LPA.
- IIT Roorkee is also famous for its sports champs at Inter IITs and various other competitions.
- IIT Roorkee provides the best administration and highly experienced faculty.
What is the highest package offered this year to a UIT RGPV student??
According to the highlights of RGPV placements 2021, the highest CTC offered to the students was INR 18 LPA. Here are the placement highlights in brief.

Are only Christians allowed in CMC Vellore for MBBS?
No, Christians are not the only ones allowed at CMC Vellore for MBBS. This is one of the most common misconceptions about the college.
CMC Vellore does have a unique admission system, but it's not exclusively for Christians:
- Christian sponsored seats: ~53-55% of MBBS seats are reserved for Christian candidates sponsored by registered church bodies/Christian organisations. These candidates need a church sponsorship letter.
- Open/All India seats: The remaining ~45-47% seats are open to candidates of all religions via NEET merit. These are highly competitive — CMC open category NEET cutoff is typically 650+ marks.
so there are TWO different tracks at CMC:
- Christian track — lower NEET cutoff (since competition is within Christians only), requires church sponsorship
- Open track — very high NEET cutoff, no religion requirement
CMC Vellore is a Christian minority institution (run by the Christian Medical College & Hospital Society) so the Christian seat reservation is legally protected. but they have never been exclusively for Christians. some of India's finest doctors from all backgrounds have graduated from CMC. if you score 650+ NEET, you can apply for the open merit seats regardless of religion.

Do students of JIPMER enjoy their college life very much as AIIMS Delhi?
Yes, students of JIPMER have a more dynamic and thrilling college life than students of AIIMS Delhi. JIPMER students are free to explore outside the campus and students can be seen having breakfast at the beach, spending weekends in some fancy beach resort, driving through White Town with its perfect French architecture, and going for star-gazing on a clear night. They have access to world cuisine from French to Italian to Asian in beautiful restaurants. All these activities speak of the sense of freedom experienced by JIPMER students.
However, this does not certainly mean that the college has no rules and regulations and students are left on their own. There are regulations on dress code and attendance to maintain decorum within the campus. Students follow these rules diligently. Recently they also banned students from bringing vehicles inside the campus, although relaxations were soon made.
All in all, JIPMER does provide more freedom to its students and lets them explore beyond academics without bringing down the discipline of the institute.
