What is the difference between spot admission and real time admission in CUSAT?

SG
Susmita Guho Posted On : September 27th, 2023
B.Tech Computer Science, Cochin University Of Science and Technology (2010)

In the context of CUSAT "spot admission" and "real-time admission" are terms that are sometimes used interchangeably, but they can have slightly different meanings depending on the specific context. Both the terms are explained below:

Spot Admission :

  • A candidate is often admitted to a program on the spot or right away under a spot admission method, frequently at a particular event or counseling session.
  • It often happens when a university or institution holds a special admissions session to fill open seats in a specific degree or program.
  • Spot admission refers to candidates being admitted immediately after submitting the required paperwork, paying the required fees, and fulfilling all other admission conditions.

Real-Time Admission :

  • The term "real-time admission" can signify a variety of things that include continual or instantaneous admissions.
  • It can relate to any application evaluation and rapid decision-making procedure for admission, frequently occurring in real-time or shortly after the application deadline.
  • Real-time admission may include electronic application systems, prompt application processing, and prompt notification of admission decisions.

Depending on the unique policies and practices of the institution, these phrases may be used differently in the context of CUSAT or other universities. While real-time and spot admission both attempt to speed up the admissions process, there may be differences in the specific steps and lead times.

What is the value of distance education courses from NICMAR?

SD
Suruchi Dhawan Posted On : September 30th, 2021
PGPWP Project Management,National Institute of Construction Management and Research (2020)

NICMAR is a well-reputed college offering various full-time as well as distance learning courses to its students.

Although the course curriculum and faculty members of this college are quite good, choosing a Distance Learning Education Program depends not only on what the college has to offer you but also on what career stage you currently belong to.

  • For Fresher students, choosing a distance learning course might not be such a good call as they will not be able to relate to many concepts being taught.
  • But on the other hand for candidates with prior work experience, a distance learning course from NICMAR may give their career a much-needed push in the right direction along with an option to change the current job profile. Also, it will open up the door for promotion opportunities in your current profiles.

In case you are a fresher then you opt for a full-time course. And if you are a person with prior work experience then you can choose distance learning programs at NICMAR, as the students with prior work experience will be able to relate to the concepts easily.

How do KMC Mangalore and KMC Manipal differ? What’s the basic difference in both? What is the cutoff for KMC through AIQ for the general category?

AB

There are a few common differences between KMC Mangalore and KMC Manipal

  1. KMC Manipal offers an amazing campus life because it’s a student hub where a lot of students from different colleges of MAHE study.
  2. It has Asia's largest library, consisting of 4–to 5 floors with a separate research section as well.
  3. Mangalore campus has better clinical exposure because it has many hospitals, three of which are government.
  4. Manipal has an amazing campus with more advanced microscopes and lab equipment.
  5. You have easy access to everything in Manipal be it your college, your labs, or your hospital.
  6. Connectivity is easier in Mangalore. All you need to do is to take a 2-hour long cab ride from Mangalore.
  7. All the major fests like Utsav happen in Manipal.
  8. There is a separate campus for the first years.

AIQ for the Manipal campus is always higher than the Mangalore campus. KMC Manipal AIQ cutoff for the general category is 72304.

What do students do after getting placed in BIT, MESRA?

AB
Arun Biswas Posted On : August 9th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

After getting placed in BIT Mesra, students typically start preparing for their careers in their chosen fields. Usually, what students choose to do after getting placed in BIT Mesra will depend on their individual goals and aspirations. I asked my friend the same question and here is what some of his batchmates did after getting placed

  • Some very studious kinds started preparing for competitive exams like GATE, GRE, CAT, and GMAT.
  • Some travel lovers attend the Spring Fest at IIT KGP or visit  Goa and Kolkata.
  • A few binge-watch their favorite series waiting to be watched in their watch list for a long time.
  • Some party lovers spend their time partying and enjoying the last few days of freedom.
  • Some students visit each and every placement procedure of the branch to support their friends.
  • Some rebel against the administration to extend girls' time and against other illogical restrictions.
  • Some organize BITOTSAV and other fests
  • Game lovers spend their time playing video games.
  • A few selfless people take charge of DC++ and download stuff.

Ultimately, the activities you do once you are placed depend on what kind of person you are.

Have I made the right decision by dropping the BITS Pilani EEE branch for IIT Madras for metallurgy?

MA
Madhav Aneja Posted On : March 28th, 2023
Lived in Chandigarh, India

In my opinion, you have made the right decision by dropping the PITS Pilani EEE branch for IIT Madras Metallurgy. My cousin was forced to take IIT Madras Metallurgy by his mother. Initially, he was disappointed but his mother advised him to continue with the same enthusiasm he cleared JEE. Many students after getting admission relax and this opens opportunities for those who continue to slog even after admission.

Your ultimate goal should be to change your branch for which you will have to work hard. This can be done by staying among the top 5% of the batch with around 9 CGPA. You can switch to Mechanical and even to Electrical sometimes with a good CGPA. All you have to do is

  • Focus on your subjects
  • Do well in the tutorials
  • Perform well on quiz
  • Ace your practicals
  • Score high in the Final semester exam

IIT Madras has a plethora of subjects to choose from in addition to a dual degree. You can change your branch provided your academic performance is at par with the requirements in the 3rd year. Some other highlights that might convince you further to choose IIT Madras are

  • Creative clubs like C5 help in harnessing skills in your area of interest. These clubs have made amazing innovations and you can always learn so much by being a part of them.
  • The unique Research Park which is the IIT Madras incubation center
  • Extracurricular activities such as Yoga, 5-star Gym, long-distance running, etc.
  • The Institute operates under the leadership of highly learned alumni and so are most of the Deans.
  • Air-conditioned Central library that is stacked with resources

All these are unique to IIT Madras and thus it’s a better option than BITS Pilani.

How is the hostel of Amity University, Kolkata?

MS
Monica Sinha Posted On : May 19th, 2023
Studied at Amity University Kolkata (2020)

The hostels of Amity University Kolkata are pathetic with no good facilities that might improve the standards of living. The fees are as high as 90k every year, which does not even include food expenses. The food served here is only veg with no non-veg cuisine.

The warden too is very uncooperative and lacks empathy. The rules here are followed strictly and any carelessness on the part of students is taken care of with great discipline. Students are not allowed to eat chicken or even use kettles.

On weekends, students can go out of the campus only for an hour or so. A day's leave requires permission from various concerned persons and is a tedious process. The rules are even more strict for girls who have to return at 5 pm. There are hundreds of formalities after which you will be allowed to go. I would recommend you rent a flat if you want to make your stay a bit flexible and experience the freedom of college life.
