SASTRA University is best known for its Biotechnology course. It provides the best facilities for Biotechnology in Asia. But only opt for this course if you are genuinely interested in the subject. As the course work requires a good amount of research and it will take some time to get a job with good pay.
If you want good salary packages after your graduation, then choosing CSE/IT will be best. There are many core companies visiting the campus for these branches. If you want to pursue higher studies abroad, you will have good opportunities too.
Electrical branches are not that great at SASTRA. It’s best not to opt for these branches. Also, core branches like Civil and Mechanical offer fewer opportunities for core placements.
NIT Kurukshetra’s Mechanical is considered to be amongst the best branches here, in terms of placements, exposure, and academics. So, if you are interested in exploring this branch, NIT Kurukshetra is the best place for you. Here are some reasons supporting this stance
Faculty: The faculty are highly qualified and experienced and their lectures are a reflection of the same. The faculty of this branch hold high ranks even outside the Mechanical department like the chief warden boys hostel and dean students welfare. Few are less experienced, arrogant, and dominating. Some are young, less experienced yet passionate teachers who adapt to the institutes' environment pretty quickly.
Placements: The key to getting good packages is a good CGPA, enough knowledge of the subject, no backlogs, and internship or project experiences. Here are the placement statistics for the UG course offered by the mechanical branch.

Infrastructure: The infrastructural facilities to be honest are pathetic and you should not expect any indoor courts or high-speed internet. The departments are small and congested because they were built several years ago. The new lecture complex is however decked with modern equipment. There is also a small market on campus with around six or seven shops selling diverse items like groceries, medical store, snacks, fruit juice, stationary, and barber. The institute has no transportation facility like other engineering colleges and the amenities are overall limited. However, the academics are not affected by this at all.
Campus Life: NIT Kurukshetra has a number of clubs and societies both technical and cultural. Become a part of any of those clubs and experience some practical life outside of books. Try to become a part of the mess committee or student adviser, student internship coordinator placement advisory committee, etc. There are many eateries and other fun places in the vicinity of campus or you can go out with friends to various tourist places within Kurukshetra
Crowd: The crowd is diverse comprising students from all backgrounds, nationalities, societal classes, languages, mindsets, and walks of life.
Curriculum: The NIT Kurukshetra Mechanical Engineering curriculum is outdated and obsolete. However, a new updated curriculum is expected to be followed soon.
Hope the above points helped you understand things better!
As a B.Tech Mechanical Engineering student at NITK, I am sharing some facts about my department-
One of my friends wanted to work at the IITs. He told one of the professors about the same. The teacher mailed an IIT Hyderabad professor and arranged for my friend to work with him. My friend also wrote a conference paper under the same IIT Hyderabad professor.
Several workshops are organized by the department, like Metal fitting workshop, Carpentry workshop, Lathe machine workshop, etc. The campus also offers virtual labs, which are present in some IITs and NIT Surathkal only.
Apart from these UG labs, there are several PG labs as well. UG and PG students can also work with each other.
Overall, the Mechanical department of NIT Surathkal is quite good. In fact, NITK is known for its CS, Mining and Mechanical studies.
Choosing IT at any of the mentioned colleges depends on what you want to make your career in. If you are good at coding then IIIT Allahabad will be a good choice. The course curriculum is designed to provide you knowledge of DSA, OOP, and so on. You will learn more about coding at IIIT Allahabad than at NIT Allahabad.
IIIT Allahabad also has a good student environment which will help you in acquiring knowledge and keeps you motivated.
If you are not passionate about learning to code, then NIT Allahabad will be a better choice. In NIT Allahabad, you will meet students from a diverse background that will help you improve and groom your personality. The institute will give you wider exposure. You can prepare for examinations like UPSC or CAT And can also start your own start-up. NIT Allahabad has a better brand value than IIIT Allahabad.
Therefore, you can choose either institute as both of them are equally good. But coding is important to get a good placement in MNCs. So choose according to it.
NIT Trichy is a better option for EEE. The department has a brilliant faculty. Professors are well-experienced. The peer group is great. You will be among talented students. EEE has a 100% placement rate. Students receive salary packages in the range of INR 4 LPA - 20 LPA. Microsoft, Uber, HLS Asia, etc. are among the major recruiters that take part in NIT Trichy placements.
Firstly, congratulations on scoring this in SAT. The grading here is quite relative. Normally, the state toppers, IIT 3000-8000 rankers, 96% to 98% CBSE scorers will be your immediate competition with your rank of 1850. Although, there are good chances that you might have to wait for a few rounds to finish and then maybe in the third or fourth round you might get lucky.
The rank mentioned by you here is quite a fair enough rank. It is also advised here that you have a look at SAT scores as well for the past academic year. There is a slight trend that the scores might vary every year depending on overall performance of all applicants.
Since much shuffling and reshuffling takes place in all the branches including IT in all the admission rounds, it is worthwhile that you wait a longer and try in the third (or fourth) round of counseling.
Interview round at Azim Premji University isn’t difficult. The interview will start with an introduction. They will ask some questions about your background, to break the ice. While preparing for the interview, go thoroughly through your SOP. Also, read about the course you are applying to. They generally ask why you want to join the course and the institute.
Through the interview, they will try to know your personality and interests, so that they can decide if you are suitable for the course or not.

If you are applying for Commerce in Mumbai, then Mithibai is definitely the better option. Reasons for choosing Mithibai over Ruparel College are obvious. In 2021, Mithibai College ranking was 10 for Commerce (by Indiatoday). It is a great college with a decent infrastructure and faculty base. All these factors make Mithibai a better option as compared to Ruparel.
