Converted IMT Ghaziabad or IMI Delhi PGDM, which one should I prefer?
When selecting a business school, there are certain assumptions to keep in mind. These assumptions are valid for all top business schools, at least for the top 20. Consider the following assumptions and evaluate which business schools align closest with your preferences:
- Assumption 1: Business schools are student-driven, meaning that the success of the school depends largely on the students, clubs, events, committees, placements, and fests and not on faculty, infrastructure, or knowledge capital. The bigger and more active the student body, the better. Classrooms are a facilitator of knowledge dissemination, but the greater good of the school is found in the activities outside the classroom.
- Assumption 2: Alumni play a key role in the success of a business school, which is why schools like FMS, JBIMS, and IMT Ghaziabad thrive.
- Assumption 3: The activities you choose to participate in at a business school can be largely classified into (1) clubs and committees, (2) business school events, and (3) a focus on academics only and a good CGPA.
- Assumption 4: The location of a business school has marginal advantages, such as Delhi or Mumbai types.
- Assumption 5: Rankings do not matter for the top 10-15 schools.
What is the ranking of LNCT Bhopal?
There are numerous colleges and universities providing core courses. The quality of these courses varies depending on their rank and academic curriculum.

Why is IIT Gandhinagar behaving more like a private college and less like an IIT?
A senior of mine recently completed her M.Tech from IIT Gandhinagar. The following answer is based on her experience.
It has been heard a lot that IIT Gandhinagar is behaving more like a private college or a death brand IIT or a business enterprise. Some of the following points are looked at when such questions are asked:
- IIT Gandhinagar is one of the fastest-growing second-generation IITs started in 2008-09. The institute has recently completed 11 years.
- The institute aims to empower students with branch change policies which are the most liberal in nature, well-managed services provided by the library, groundbreaking research, innovations that are cutting edge, and attractive placement opportunities.
- Students are given choice and flexibility in case of choosing dual majors, minors, honors, course range, and short courses.
- IIT Gandhinagar is one of the most globalized campuses in India. It offers opportunities for studying abroad in the form of research internships, summer programs, semesters overseas, etc.
- The institute promotes maximum interactions between different disciplines with 7 Interdisciplinary Research Centres. The infrastructure in research is commonly shared and is not a monopoly.
- The institute promotes learning that is project-oriented which puts emphasis on learning by doing.
- Humanities cover 20% of the network and core requirements are in the sciences, design, and innovation in various fields.
The above points are some of the distinctive features which make the institute stand out. It continuously fights for the personal and multi-dimensional development of the students, staff, and faculty.
Playing the blame game is easy but it can be difficult to see the positives sometimes. In a decade, the institute has given a number of unique initiatives which are now being emulated by other institutes across India.
How is the experience at the EPBA program offered by IIM Calcutta?
Weekend classes are 3 hours long or 1.5 hours in two sessions. They exchange high-level information with no granularity. Exams are in multiple-choice format and may not cover all topics. There will be no project or capstone project. Very low-level or low-quality content, comparable to free Google content in some subjects.
The course is overpriced when the same material is available for a quarter of the price on Coursera/Edx. There is a significant disconnect between the IIMC course coordinator and the faculty who teach the course. The faculty are beyond the course coordinator's control. As a result, faculty can cover whatever they want. There are no topic-level or content-level details provided, which is very frustrating because you have no idea what they teach.
The IIMC Certificate is only for exhibition. You are not permitted to ask questions or raise concerns during the session because the faculty is focused on finishing it. Though they say they will provide books and notes, the study material is only available in PPT format.
Is it necessary to stay in hostel if you study at IISC bangalore?
No, it is not compulsory to stay in a hostel if you are a student at IISc Bangalore. You can become a day scholar too, but trust me if you do so you will be missing out on a huge part of your experience, hostel life. But there are several merits of staying in a hostel.
- The lush green campus and the serene experience of cycling to and fro the hostel is a unique experience.
- The night walk with your friends after a long tiring day will help you boost your stress.
- Staying in the hostel is safer than staying outside as the hostel and campus are well-guarded and strict security measures are taken.
- Attending seminars becomes easier as you can reach the venue within 5 minutes.
- The most important part of staying in the hostel is group studying and group assignments.
- The classes have no fixed timings so as a day scholar you might find it difficult to come back again.
- The mess and hostel charges are very low and you get excellent facilities even at such a low price.
- Students get to spend their leisure time doing their favorite activities including swimming pool, basketball court, badminton court, hockey ground, cricket ground, archery classes, aerobics classes, and many more.
So, it depends on you if you want to enjoy the comfort of your home and become a day scholar or enjoy your hostel life to the fullest.
What is your review of Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (IIT BHU)?
My review of IIT BHU will be based on some very common parameters.
- Infrastructure: The academic buildings are not air-conditioned and are equipped with obsolete instruments. The hostels are surrounded by natural beauty but the living conditions are pathetic with cramped rooms and dirty toilets. The poor LAN connections are a major major problem here.
- Faculty: The faculty again is very disappointing. some even lack basic knowledge and some are too arrogant to guide the students. The answer sheets are checked in a disorganized way and the pedagogy adopted is old school. So here, you will have to completely depend on self-study.
- Research: The majority of the faculty focuses on administrative tasks and fails to encourage students to research work. The institute has no globally recognized research work to date.
- Facilities: The library has poorly organized books and lacks good study material. The LAN network is another major issue faced by students here. The departments are closed by 6 ok and the library is locked by 10 pm. This is a major hindrance during exams.
- Campus life: The frequent student activities make the campus life of IIT BHU lively and dynamic. A number of activities are organized in IIT-Gymkhana by the students and Kashi Yatra is the annual cultural festival of the institute. There are amazing sports facilities like huge grounds and fields for Cricket, Football, Badminton, and Tennis.
- Placements: IIT BHU has one of the best placements among the top IITs. Currently, IIT Bhu Placements 2023 is being held and around 474 offers and 305 PPOs have been made. IIT BHU's highest CTC was recorded at INR 1.2 CPA. A total of 117 recruiters took part in IIT BHU Placements 2023. Top recruiters included Airbnb India, Uber, Microsoft, Accenture, Piramal, etc. Last year the highest CTC stood at INR 2.05 CPA which was offered by UBER.
Overall, IIT BHU is a great choice if you are willing to sacrifice the hostel conditions and self-study.
What are the selection criteria and the minimum CAT score needed in FMS Delhi?
For the second round, FMS issues approximately 2800 calls, 1000 of which are for the general category and the remainder for the various other categories. The criteria for making a call are based entirely on CAT. That is why CAT plays an important role in getting a call, and this is a boon for those who do not have good graduation scores because there is a 10% weightage to 10th&12th marks in the final score and no weightage to graduation marks.
To be called, an aspirant must score at least 99 percentile in the general category and 95 percentile in the reserved category for students.
The weightage given to the various sections of CAT when making a call is as follows:
Quant - 30%
DILR - 30%
English - 40%
The fees for a two-year program have been raised slightly; it is now around 2 lakhs for a two-year course, which is still on the low side.
The final weightage of the score is as follows: CAT - 60%, GD - 10%, PI - 15%, 5% extempore, 5% for the tenth score, and 5% for the 12th grade.
Can students from other states apply for ANNA University?
They certainly can. Anna University in Chennai now handles admissions to engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu following the exclusion of the Tamil Nadu Professional Colleges Entrance Examination in 2007.
For students from other states, it has a special space reserved for them, and on a different day, counseling is provided. Because there aren't many people coming from other states to study at Anna University, they should have an easy time getting in.
TNEA is the state-level admission procedure for the state of Tamil Nadu. Anna University organizes it to provide admissions to B.E./B. Tech professional degree courses. Admission will be granted solely on the basis of the intermediate (12th) class percentage. The candidate must obtain 45% (general category), 40% (backward class, including backward class Muslim), 40% (MBC and DNC), and 40% (SC/ST/SCA).
How good is NIT Kurukshetra's IT placements?
NIT Kurukshetra IT branch is much like the CS and so the opportunities offered are also similar. Almost every student of the branch gets placed with decent packages. The top IT giants that visit the campus for placements are Microsoft, Adobe, and Directi. The institute has a decent coding culture and has produced some of the best coders and the situation is only expected to get better.
